IU Scholarships

K, I got the IU Prestige award. For the Distinction award, you need either a 1330 SAT or 30 ACT, and damn I got 1320 and 29! Lol, but wondering, even though I got accepted already, can I retake one of the tests to try to get the Distinction scholarship?

Yes, you can retake and if your scores improve and you send them in very quickly before the scholarship money runs out, they will up your scholarship.

New scores must be submitted by Jan 15 according to the FAQ’s on the scholarship website. Unfortunately the next SAT and ACT dates are after 1/15.

do u know if i can argue up my reward? I was thinking of contacting the admissions office and asking if they can up my reward from 2000 a year to 5000 a year since my GPA is only a 3.7, but my SAT is a 1370/1600

def—from the IUB scholarship website, the answer is no.

“Scholarships at IU are competitive. Students must meet all specified criteria in order to receive that level of Automatic Academic Scholarship. There is no flexibility on meeting the criteria.”

Okay, I got a question…

I got a 32 ACT, but won’t be able to make a 3.7 if I calculated correctly (no weighted grades at my school :().

If I apply now, are there other scholarships that I may have a shot at?
Also, can I be a direct admit to Kelley with such a low GPA?

OHKID:
The date for automatic scholarship consideration is unfortunately past. Note: This speaks to the AUTOMATIC scholarships (those based solely on your GPA plus SAT/ACT), so I don’t know the case for the Selective Scholarships (yes, there ARE other scholarships …just look at the website they’re very well described…some large scholarships such as Cox (or Presidential if you’re in state…which I think you’re not…MI right?), but smaller ones too, such as those within your school and/or department.

“Students applying for fall 2010… While November 1 is the freshman priority date, scholarship consideration continued for students whose applications for admission were complete through December 1 based on available funds. Applications completed after December 1 will not be considered for Automatic Academic Scholarships.”

Usually the initial application determines the qualifications for automatic scholarships and kind of “weeds out” applicants for selective scholarships. If one doesn’t have the stats to qualify for an automatic scholarship, it’s unlikely one would receive a selective scholarship unless it’s aimed at a particular subgroup, ie Hudson and Holland scholarships, etc.

i hate how bad i was in high schoola t doing work. I could easily eb attendign IU for 25000 a year total had i donme 20 more mintues fo homework a night- )_;

LOL!!! I wish :)

Yeah, I got a 3.65 GPA UW/ basically the same Weighted. I thought maybe I could get it to a 3.7 by the semester, thus why I didn’t apply yet, but a certain hellish science class with the wicked witch of the west teaching it (although she is nice eye candy…), kicked my butt.

Thanks for the info!!!

I’ll be looking up those scholarships soon.

My daughter originally got a 28 ACT, but re-took the test and got a 30. She sent it in and was eligible for the IU Distinction Scholarship. However, that was all before the cut-off date. BUT, similar to your situation, she missed getting into Hutton Honors college by 1 point. The new ACT score for HHC acceptance is 31. She just took it on Dec. 12th. If it goes up, she’ll let them know.

Good luck to you!
