IU vocal audition on SuperBowl wkend....

Having trouble w/ making plans for IU audition....they have D scheduled for 2/3 - which is Superbowl wkend (being held in Indianapolis)! Seems Bloomington is what they call a 'Celebration' City...so hotels are more booked, higher priced and with longer stays required as are plane fares....IU wants to charge me around $90. to change the audition date...

Any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone else in the same situation?
thanks,
S

What about the hotel on campus?
My son didn’t make the cut but that was where we planned to stay.

I strongly recommend you not to change the audition date. If you change your audition date from 2/3 it is most likely that they will put your daughter in the audition in march, and people who audition in march has a huge disadvantage due to the school’s rolling admission policy.

KLKL: I started w/ the Union on campus - but rates are not only higher, but must stay 3 nights! - its a shame as a U of Mich alumnus offered to put us up there at their expense - but can’t ask for that now!
Thanks Junebugxpn…I did find a place Summertime something - didn’t get great reviews, but c’est la vie…I guess I will just stick w/ it!
appreciate the input

That’s terrible timing for an audition weekend! You could explore Louisville, KY as an option for airport and hotels. Although my S auditioned at IU in March and received a scholarship, I agree that auditioning sooner is a good idea given the rolling admissions policy.

Maybe we should add this to the list of things that can go wrong! Shame on IU for not giving applicants a heads-up on this.
