IU vs. Notre Dame Pre med

Hey everyone,

So I was looking for some advice for my college selection. I was admitted to a number of schools, but I done to just these two, Indiana University and Notre Dame. I want to study neuroscience on the pre-med track and eventually try for a top medical school, Harvard, Duke, Johns Hopkins etc. I am in-state to IU, and received about 12,500 dollars in scholarships, so IU is really cheap, almost free. I received some Fin Aid to ND, but still 45k per year. My family is fairly wealthy and could probably afford ND, but I don’t want to be carrying around a bunch of loans, especially as I want to do to Medical School. What do you think? ND has the academics, but also coasts a lot. IU is cheap, but not world-renowned. However, for pre-med I heard it doesn’t matter so much. What do you guys think. Thoughts, advice anything.

If the money, as you indicated, is not a major concern for your family, attend Accepted Student Days both at IU and ND and respective advantages/disadvantages will most likely become very obvious, based on your personal preferences. Best of luck on your decision.

Notre Dame is not worth 180K more than IU, and medical schools will view these two the same. That 180K could go a long way towards paying back your med school loans.
