IU vs. Nova?

Hey everyone, I just found out I got rejected by my #1 school, USC.

Anyways, down to my next two picks - help me choose? Indiana University vs. Villanova. I've visited both, love both, although I think I love Indiana more. In your opinion, is Villanova any more prestigious to make it more worth it?

Cost:
Indiana - about 21,000/year, will graduate debt-free
Villanova - about 30,000/year, will graduate about 12K in debt

I've been directly accepted to the Journalism School at IU and I'm also in the Honors program. At 'Nova, I'm plain old undecided. Distance from home (Boston, MA) isn't a problem for me.

I have a few worries about both schools. At Indiana, I'm a worried about getting a little bit too caught up in the partying and losing track of my academics. I'm also a little nervous that (I know this sounds really horrible) I'll be around a lot of "idiots" who won't share the same academic drive that I have, though maybe being in Honors will help offset that. My worries with Villanova are mainly diversity and lack of fun. As well probably all know, the name Vanillanova is fairly accurate - and when I visited, the parties were a huge pain in the ass to get to, and they seemed really exclusive. I also get the feeling that 'Nova isn't as prestigious as they market themselves to be.

The pros? Indiana seems like tons of fun, I absolutely love campus, they have amazing programs in journalism and dance (which, while it isn't my major, I definitely want to make a part of my college life), and Bloomington is super-cute. I love Villanova's proximity to Philly, campus, and the huge school spirit (Final Four baby!).

Any thoughts?

Oh, and in case you think these are bad options, my other choices are:
Clemson (33K/year)
Elon (27K-ish/year)
Loyola (32K/year)
UMass (10K/year) HATE THIS SCHOOL please don't recommend it. My parents made me apply.

Thanks to all!

Villanova is no where near worth the extra cost. I would go to Indiana in a heartbeat.

Indiana Honors apparently get alot of perks; advance registration, etc…and with all the Kelley kids, I don’t think you have to worry about being around “idiots”…there are enough bright kids anywhere; you’ll find your own…for my $$ Indiana (although why not Elon? just curious…)

rodney - I know a few kids at Elon and after talking to them, I don’t think it’s a good fit for me. Too small and not much to do in the surrounding area.

ah…yes, from what I’ve heard on CC, very remote…Well, between IU and Nova, I would recommend IU…especially in the honors program…

IU. I grew up right near Villanova and still spend a lot of time in the area. I am an IU grad. Go to IU. Both are excellent schools, but I think you are a good fit for IU and the journalism school is excellent. Yes, the bottom portion of the class may be a little disappointing to you academically, but by soph year you will have settled into your major and won’t even notice anyone other than your friends and academic peers. The music school is awesome and there are always great performances to attend. Campus is gorgeous. Enjoy!

I have to be honest unless Villanova has completely changed they can party with the best of them.

Haha, glad u have the same hatred for our good ol’ state school. I’d go to IU if ur in honors, got accepted into ur major, and plain old like it more. Nova’s not worth that. (It’d be different if u weren’t in honors or got accepted into an alt. major)

TPL09, haha I know, good ol’ UMass. I just don’t get the appeal of it!
