IUB Bremen anyone?

^thanks. it’s kinda my first choice. i would really love to go there but they have a bad reputation for piling up loans (atleast to Nepalese). what about you?
And almost forgot, congratulations for your acceptance.
<refreshes gmail=“”> - still nothing</refreshes>

Thanks. I’m deciding between this and Fordham University, in New York. And right now I’m leaning towards Jacobs. Germany just seems like a lot more of a once-in-a-lifetime experience to me (I’m American, I can move to New York whenever, no laws against it) and Jacobs has a really interesting educational approach that I like.

Question for anyone familiar with the school–how frequent is transportation (bus, I’m assuming) between the university and the city of Bremen?

@wordygirljaye
Hey hey Congratulations !!!for getting into JUB,Germany.
I wish i could be one of the luckiest as you and am desperately waiting for the decisions to come out for us,i.e.Nepalese Students.

JUB is a highly selective,3 yrs oriented and is in Bremen-a hanseatic place in Europe.So, this may be the reason why Nepalese opt for JUB .

Anyway congrats once again.If you can plz plz plz pray for my good decisions to come out.
Plz
and what amount of scholarships do you get?

@gramblingscholar
m so nervous yaar.me too refreshing my email inbox.

What exactly does Hanseatic mean for us going there? I know what the hanseatic league is, historically, but does it have a strong affect on the culture or something?

I got €18,000/year.

Good luck!! I hope you all get your (positive) decisions soon!

@wordygirljay:
18000/yr - i guess u got a full tuition scholarship then. good work.

@MITscholarship:
same question as wodygirljay asked: what the hell has hanseatic to do with us going there?

@gramblingscholar
same answer as wordy girl was supposed to write,her guess is somewhat right.doesn’t that hanseatic mean historical beauty.that kinda work in our transdisciplinary approach.

DIFFERED TO round 2! didn’t even knew that was possible.

differed to round 2 .m so shocked.
last yr 2 candidates from SXC was there at JUB.
what the hell they doin

That’s too bad :frowning: Good luck with round II, my fingers are crossed for you guys.

on second thoughts, atleast we got differed unlike many deserving candidates who got rejected.

@wordygirljay:
mind posting your stats?

GPA: 4.0 UW. 4.88 W. SAT: 780 CR, 700 M, 740 W.

Yes, that’s good, see the positive!

I am going crazy right now trying to decide what to do…Jacobs or my original choice, Fordham? Stressful decision-making, but, I’m lucky to have a decision to make, I guess.

i would say jacobs over fordham
but anyways congrats!!!

Yeah, I don’t know, there’s lots of factors…Still thinking about it. For me, it’s a hard decision.

hey!
i am a cc-alum and a student at Jacobs - all of a sudden I got this email today about a new post in this thread and so i decided to check it out!
well good luck for those who were deferred and rejected!
for the accepted ones - Congratulations - if you have any questions - feel free to ask me. I’ll try to answer them as readily as I can!

cheers,
pranjal

@pranjal
do you know what jacobs looks for in it’s applicants?

Jacobs University selects students not only on the basis of their grades and test scores but also for their creativity and leadership as demonstrated in co- and extracurricular activities prior to university–their general level of life achievement.
i am guessing there’s a little larger stress on academics (but not very large) since students should be able to cope with four years of American college wrapped into 3 years :)

Also, countries with larger applicant pool like Nepal, Romania, Germany etc are self selective - you’ve got to stand out amongst your peers… either academically or otherwise.

I asked you a bunch of questions on my other thread, about choosing.

One more, though: do you think you’re getting a good education there, in general? I’m a little worried about going to a relatively unknown school versus a decently well-known school, and I’d want to be sure that the education I’m getting isn’t just squeezed into three years, but also good, and that I’d have plenty of opportunities after graduation.

i got accepted. any nepalese who got accepted in JUB for class of 2012?

The train station to the Bremen city center is 5 minutes away if you walk. A train comes every 30 minutes. It takes 25 minutes to the Bremen main station.
The next mall is in 5 minutes by bus. The bus comes every 10 minutes.

I don’t think it means anything to a student that Bremen is a hanseatic city. I’m not at the JUB, but live in Bremen, so I can’t be sure about it.
