IUB Location

Hello all!
I'm thinking of applying to IUB because I know IUW has a high reputation and great professors. However, what I heard from my friend is the location that is not that appealing for college students. Some say it's located in the middle of corn fields and have no where to go for entertainment. Is it true? A little bit of detail about the location of IUB would be really helpful. Thank you. :)

You need to visit. Bloomington is a very artsy, vibrant town. The Kirkwood area has a TON of ethnic restaurants, and a blend of chain restaurants as well. Brown County State Park is close ( beautiful hiking!!) and Nashville, IN is a very artsy, touristy little town nearby. I attended Purdue which I loved, but truly a school in the middle of cornfields. Not IU

Thank you @Idavis! I see… so IU is not in a middle of cornfields? I’d really love to visit. However, I am in Seattle and I don’t think my parents would allow me to… But your explanation helps me a lot Thanks again! :)

I"ve lived in Bloomington off and on for nearly 20 years. The drive into Bloomington does have a lot of cornfields. The town itself has a lot to do for all residents. There is always something going on both on campus and off campus for entertainment. There is at least one music club that has some 18+ shows rather than 21. There are all kinds of sports, music of all types, theater, films (some free), ballet, an art museum, a few other types of museums, art galleries, lots of restaurants, I find it hard to believe anyone could be bored here unless they weren’t willing to make an effort.

Thank you @rrah ! it’s good to know :)
