From the IUP website:

"What are the admissions requirements?

Our typical student is in the top 10 percent of her class, with transcripts reflecting a desire to be challenged through AP, CP, or honors classes. Her grade-point average is about a 3.8 (many applicants score a 4.0 or better on a weighted scale). Standardized test scores average a combined math/critical reading of 1300 (the writing score is not yet interpreted) for the SAT and 30 on the ACT. However, we are open to talented students within a much wider range of performance. High standardized test scores alone have not been indicative of student success in our program and beyond, so we do not have a minimum requirement.

We are most interested in a student who has a love of ideas and a desire to participate in a community of scholars. As we have no tests in the Honors College core curriculum, our students learn to look beyond test performance as a measure of success. Those who most enjoy their education in the REC Honors College are drawn to intimate class settings where, through discussion and debate, they learn to appreciate an informed ambiguity rather than the “right” answer."
