I've applied SCEA to Princeton University - Do I stand a chance?

<p>Hi... I've applied SCEA to Princeton. I'm a student in a competitive high school in India and I'd like to know what my chances are. Also another student from my school already got recruited by Princeton. Please have a look at my stats and tell me if I still stand a chance...</p>

<p>SAT: CR - 690, Math - 800, Writing - 780 (2280)
SAT 2: Math 2 - 800, Litrature - 740
Class Rank: N/A (Our school doesn't rank officially but I've been topping my class for the past 4 years)
GPA: N/A (Our school doesn't give GPAs but my marks have been 97% in my last official board examination (in sophomore year) and I'm projected to receive 96% at the final board exams of my senior year.)
APs: None as our school doesn't offer them.
Senior Year Courses: English (Language & Literature), Economics, Political Science, History (Indian & World), Math, Computer Science, Environmental Science</p>

<p>Received an average of 6 subject prizes for various subjects for the past 6 years.
Was in the 99th percentile in the ICSE Board examinations (conducted on an all India basis) with an aggregate of 97%.
Won several awards for essay writing in school in 3 languages.</p>

<p>Outside School</p>

<p>Ranked 19th in India in the T.I.M.E. National Scholarship Test 2008 conducted by Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd.
Scored marks in the 99th percentile or above in all three subjects (English, Mathematics and Science) in the ASSET Test conducted in 2010. This is a national level examination.</p>

<p>Sports</p>

<p>Have been swimming for my district and state for the past 7 years. Have won medals at several state and district championships. Hold 4 district and 1 state record.</p>

<p>Selected to represent the State at the 35th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2008 and won 2 gold and a silver medal. Selected for the nationals in 2009 & 2010.</p>

<p>Attended National Swimming Camp for training swimmers for the South Asian Age Group Swimming Championship, held at Chennai in August 2007.</p>

<p>Visited Pakistan as part of the Indian contingent that represented the nation in the South Asian Age Group Swimming Championship held in Islamabad in September 2007.</p>

<p>Won a silver medal in the 50m Free Style event at Wateen Telecom South Asia Swimming and Water polo Championship organized by the Pakistan Swimming Federation in Islamabad from 3rd to 8th September 2007.</p>

<p>Selected for the national level swimming coaching camp for the preparation of the Indian Swimming Team for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 and the Commonwealth Games 2010.</p>

<p>Elected as Group Champion of Group 1 (under 18 years) at the Calcutta District Junior Aquatic Championship 2009 and in 2010.</p>

<p>Currently hold the most number of records at the Annual Inter House Aquatic Meet (11 records) in the history of my school.</p>

<p>Currently hold the most number of records at the Annual Inter-Martiniere Aquatic Meet (12 records), contested between La Martiniere Kolkata and La Martiniere Lucknow, in the history of La Martiniere for Boys.</p>

<p>Was awarded minor COLOURS for Swimming (an award for sporting excellence usually given only to students of classes IX-XII) by the school in 2007 when only in class 8 and in 2010. </p>

<p>Was awarded major COLORS for Swimming (the schools's highest award for sporting excellence given to only one student a year) in 2011.</p>

<p>NOTE: The Princeton coach said that while he won't recruit me, my times are good enough to warrant a place on the Princeton team.</p>

<p>Debate</p>

<p>Active participation in Inter-House debates in school since 2005.
Represented his school in the Frank Anthony Public School debate, 2009.
Secured 3rd position at the Inter-School Debate conducted by West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations & United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2009.
Secured 2rd position at the Inter-School Debate conducted by West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations & United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2010.</p>

<p>Essay Writing</p>

<p>Secured 3rd Rank in the ALBERT BARROW MEMORIAL All India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations in the year 2008.</p>

<p>Secured 1st position in Inter-School Essay writing competition conducted by INOX in February 2009.</p>

<p>Represented school in the Rotary International District 3291 Save Water Awareness Programme Essay Competition ‘Water – Use & Abuse’ in October 2008.</p>

<p>Model United Nations Conferences</p>

<p>Represented the school at the Cathedral Model United Nations organized by The Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai where over 400 of the best delegates from over 30 schools across India participate 3 times in 2008, 2010 and 2011 respectively with the following results:
- Received a Special Mention for his performance in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee and was a part of the team from La Martiniere that won the Best Delegation Award in 2008.
- Received the Outstanding Delegate Award for his performance in the Disarmament and International Security Committee and was a part of the team from La Martiniere that won the Best Delegation Award in 2010.
- Received the Outstanding Delegate Award for his performance in the Historical Security Council and was a part of the team from La Martiniere that won the Best Delegation Award in 2011.</p>

<p>Received certificate of high commendation for Best Position Paper in the General Assembly (Plenary), a committee in which there were 192 delegates from various schools in India and abroad, at the Delhi Public School Model United Nations Conference 2008 organized by Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram at Delhi in November 2008 and was a part of the team that won the Secretary General’s Award for Best Delegation.</p>

<p>Instrumental in the staging of the first ever Model United Nations in Eastern India, La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations 2009 hosted jointly by La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata and La Martiniere for Girls, Kolkata.</p>

<p>Officiated as the Chairperson of the Human Rights Council in the La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations 2009 which was attended by 21 schools from across Kolkata. Was the only student in class 10 to be made Chairperson.</p>

<p>Officiated as the Secretary General of La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations 2010 which was attended by over 250 delegates belonging to 34 schools from across the nation and hosted jointly by La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata and La Martiniere for Girls, Kolkata.</p>

<p>Participated at the Harvard Model United Nations China 2011 held at Shanghai and was declared Outstanding Delegate in the UNSC. Was a member of the delegation from La Martiniere for Boys that was adjudged the Best Delegation at the Harvard Model United Nations China 2011.[</p>

<p>Invited to officiate as Guest Chairperson at the Model United Nations Conference organized by Calcutta Boys’ School in 2011.</p>

<p>Moderated the TTIS Street Corner Debate organized by The Telegraph in Schools at the Tea Junction at City Centre, Salt Lake in May, 2010.</p>

<p>Moderated the TTIS Speakout Group Discussion (part of the The Telegraph in Schools Street Corner events) - an interactive group discussion based on the format followed on the popular TV programme “We The People” hosted by Burkha Dutt. The event was held at Hangout (the Food Court) at City Centre on 2nd July, 2010.</p>

<p>Regular contributor to several newspapers in Kolkata as a student writer.</p>

<p>COMMUNITY SERVICE</p>

<p>Helped introduce a Scholarship for talented yet needy children at the Telegraph School Awards for Excellence. Set up the online footprint for the scholarship programme and organized fund raising efforts among students of La Martiniere for Boys and La Martiniere for Girls.
Collected funds for Help Age India in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as a part of their annual fund raising drive among students to help elderly citizens of the country live a better life.
Helped introduce an environment programme called EcoPal in Kolkata to sensitize students to the challenges posed by climate change.</p>

<p>Thats about it. Its not much but do I still stand a chance? Or did I "waste" my SCEA app? I'm applying for financial aid, but as Princeton is need-blind I don't know how that will impact my chances. Let me know...</p>
