I've Applied... what next? [A Guide-ish]

I’ve seen that there are plenty of people on here that are applying, but there are also a number of us on the forum that have been there and done that - postcard and all. This is thread is a spot to share ideas and suggestions for this period of waiting - what do you do now? What comes next?

Don’t stress out anymore. You’ve done your best, you’ve shown your best side. Now get your financial aid applications in!!! Those are coming up soon - get them in early and watch the money roll it (hopefully).

Be an active waiter. Follow up with the admission office, visit, come see me on a tour. Thank you notes area must to your teachers/recommendation writers. You’re going to want them in your corner in the future and now if indeed a school calls for more information.

Start deciding which schools you WANT to go to, which school you CAN LIVE WITH, and what schools you’ll DIE if you go to. Hopefully you don’t have too many of the latter. Deciding between your acceptances can be rediculously difficult so sometimes it helps to have a plan before you hear back.

That’s all I’ve got - share more guys? If you have questions you want answered offline, drop a private message.

I'll be blunt: get the stuff in and put it all out of your head as much as possible. The weirdness of college admissions these days - so many reasons - means you just can't know for sure what will happen. You have a month or so after you hear and things will become clear very quickly based on acceptances, aid packages and realities about the schools. Until you're comparing schools, you don't think honestly about how far it is, how you'll get there, how big or small it is, etc. You may have very contrasting choices or you may have to compare one that's strong in your interests versus a place you may prefer.

i'm having such a hard time being patient.. apparently ED I decisions come out on the 12th and i can't wait! :)
