I've been accepted into my top choice school but my grades have started to slip A LOT...

I had all As (and one B) junior year and now I have Cs in both AP Chem and AP Calc AB. There is a very real chance that these grades could drop to Ds once my teachers put in the last couple of grades. I’ve been accepted into my top choice and 2 other safeties as well, but could my admissions decision be rescinded? I have no idea what to do, these classes are extremely tough for me and it feels impossible for me to well in them. I’m thinking about withdrawing from Calc, but I’m not sure how that would look to the colleges…

Yes, if you start getting D’s your acceptance can be rescinded. Do whatever you have to to do keep up at least a C. See teachers after class, get a tutor, look at online resources (ex. Khan Academy), ask for extra work etc.

Withdrawing from a class could also lead to a rescinded admission offer. If you are considering withdrawing first talk to the schools you have been accepted at to see if it would change their decision (if they say no, get it in writing).

Well, go see your teacher first thing tomorrow, apologize for letting your grades slip, say you were overtaken by senioritis but now realize it was stupid, and you’d like to know what your can do to bring your g eases back up and ensure they remain up for the rest of the semester.
A D typically means you’d be rescinded (lose your admission), let alone two, so do *everything * your teacher recommends or suggests, even if it means staying up late on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to get it all done by Monday morning.

See your teacher and explain that you have been having problems with the material, and that is on you, but if they could see clear to give you something to get extra credit to keep a C so you don’t get rescinded, you would really appreciate it!!

Also, your guidance counselor might be able to help you. Good luck!

The above responses offer great advice. I know my youngest child’s university informed them in acceptance letter that any change in senior course schedule would be an alteration in the application and would cause a re-review of the application. It would be helpful to check the policies at the schools where you’ve been accepted to see how they view a dropped class. Yes, and also work hard and seek help to get the grades back up. Good luck!
