Thanks BB012! And i'm sorry to hear that :(. Well, it's still makes G-Burg a possibility for you and best of luck to you as well. Wherever you end up, i'm sure you'll do wonderfully !!!

Son received his packet in the mail yesterday. Accepted! Yay!

@BB012: Commiserations, bro. Guess your FA requirement was too high for RD. Keep praying. With your stats, I am sure you will fare better elsewhere.

@novaswim7: You can easily get into some good unis. I like your stats, and your attitude to rankings!

I got my letter yesterday! I live in California and the letter was dated March 19...
$49,095 financial aid package :) and a Dean's Scholar...
yeeeeeeeeeee boi

wowww
lucky girl
congrats!

Errrr...I got in without applying O_o. I feel kind of bad because my friend from school was waitlisted.

got in :). my fin aid isn't so lucky though.. thought i'd get a lot more. is it possible to get them to up it? i only got 10,000 a year.

and ikatfabric, how is that possible?

I have no idea! I sent my transcript and SAT scores thinking I'd apply, but I never sent in the actual application with essays and extracurriculars. Then I randomly got a letter from them addressed to me saying that I'd been accepted for the September 2009 term, and I got a $10,000 scholarship (but obviously no financial aid since I didn't apply for it because...well, uhm...I didn't apply to the school). I'm very confused but haven't been home before 5pm to call them yet this week (which, if you check the timestamp above and notice it says 3:47pm, does in fact mean that I go on CC during school -_-).

@ikatfabric: I also do that. We all do that, don't we guys?

P.s. Are you legacy?

Hehe. And nope, I'm not a legacy. I didn't visit or interview. The only things I sent were my transcript and my SAT scores. I checked, and I definitely did not submit my application via Common App or through the website. So yeah, I'm very confused.

Pinch me. Are you as lucky as heck or am I reading a ghost post? Someone please pinch me!!

Lucky? I feel awful! I really don't want to go to Gettysburg. I was only going to apply because my dad is certain that it's the perfect school for me. Then I realized how much pressure I would've been under to go there if I'd gotten in, so I decided not to send in the application. Urgh...I need to call them!!

Oh my goodness ... a thought ... your dad wouldn't have applied "for" you, would he?
Yikes.

^ now that would be some messed up stuff right thereee

Haha I've heard of it happening, but if he had applied for me, he'd have to be pretty dumb to forget about financial aid. My family's really low income. So even though I got in with a scholarship, I still could never afford this school even if I wanted to go. But yeah, I don't know how it happened. It just did O.O

Miracles, they say, happen without notice
This is a strange one tho

Haha indeed. I think I'll call them on Monday and let them know, so they can give that scholarship and my spot at the school to someone who actually wants it.

I can hardly believe this. You are sacrificing such good fortune? WHY!?

Because it isn't good fortune, really. I didn't apply to the school, so I didn't apply for financial aid. My EFC is 0, which means I need a lot of aid. Even though Gettysburg admitted me, I didn't get any aid because I didn't put Gettysburg down on my FAFSA or send them CSS or anything. I just got a $10,000 scholarship. And $50,000 - $10,000 = $40,000 leftover that I have to come up with somewhere...

And I just really don't like the school >< Hence the not applying...
