i've decided against taking USH

last october i took math IIC and received an 800
ad i was planning on taking ush and physics tomorrow, but after continuously receiving horrid scores in history (610 - 640 range), i've decided that i wont be taking it.
this means that i will only have two subject tests (math2, phys) although im confident i can pull an 800 in physics... at minimum 770
should i take literature in november to add another test to my application??
i need advice
is it worth it to take that additional test and how much would it help me if i did?

only a few schools require 3 (harvard, princeton, sometimes USC, northwestern 3 recommended)

so you should be set with 2, especially if they are both 800s (wow!)

are you currently taking a language? those tests aren't bad, and don't require a lot (if any) studying

you could replace US with Spanish or French easily without studying

uhh...ive heard that sat language tests are easy only for native speakers...i know for sure if i were to take my language test that i'm doing in high school, id get about a 500.

i have taken 3 years of spanish at my school and i do consider myself good at spanish. i may think about taking spanish in november now that you mention it. how is the literature test? and again, should i even fret over taking a third test. i would like to go to an ivy or Stanford (1st choice) but im not too intrigued by going to princeton or harvard. Im more aiming for Columbia or Brown

same situation with stueydue here :(
sigh

Are you still going to be in Spanish in the fall? If not, now is peak time to take it. I'm not sure how accurate PR practice test are, but I have scored 750 twice on Spanish and I don't even consider myself a great Spanish student.

For Columbia and Brown, maybe consider taking Lit (for variety and not just Math/Science)...I've heard it's hard though

no im not taking spanish in the fall, but even so id be too afraid to take it tomorrow without even taking one practice test or even studying a little bit. and as you say that taking lit would add variety, would spanish add that same variety if i were to take it eventually?? and i feel for you wavvy

my D is in the same boat. she/we thought (erroneously, apparently) that all the study/review she did for the APUSH exam meant she didn't have to do a lot of review for the SATII USH. her practice scores have also been in the low 600's.

does anyone know what happens when you just don't take a test you are registered for? she will take Math 1 tomorrow, so she won't be a no-show.

thanks.

PRJ: a few threads have recently explored this topic. If she shows up to take the Math 1, she can leave immediately after she finishes so that shes gone for the second testing period. As long as she turns in her book/answer sheet, CB will essentially receive a blank answer sheet for her USH exam and it wont show up on her score report at all - almost as if she didnt register for it in the first place.
