mraoshi, CA, Viterbi. I turned down UC San Diego, UC Irvine and UCLA to come to USC because I love L.A., its environment, its great football team, its alumni network, its school spirit, got some fin aid, and don’t want to spend 5 years to get my B.S. at UCLA.

pinkie1105, CA! Viterbi. I turned down UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UCLA, UC Berkeley, NYU, and Rice University to come to USC because of the awesome programs for engineers (such as the progressive degree program - engineering masters in 5 years!!), crazy school spirit/football games, beautiful campus, ability to explore across different fields of study, ability to go to cool movie screenings, California sun, etc etc!!!

sandiegokid, CA, Marshall. I turned down UCLA, UC Berkeley (Alumni Scholarship), UCSD (Regents), NYU (Stern), Johns Hopkins, and waitlisted at Princeton, Dartmouth, Wash U in St.Louis to come to USC because of its amazing business school, opportunities, alumni network, TROJAN FOOTBALL, location, beautiful campus, flexibility in major, and the overall SC experience! Can’t wait for the fall!

CollegeFrenzy (for son), Orange County CA, Annenberg. Turned down Cornell, Wesleyan, Syracuse, University of San Diego, Pepperdine, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara. Came to USC because of Annenberg School of Broadcast Journalism, Mom and Dad are Legacies, The Trojan Family, Southern California Location, Campus, Presidential Scholarship, Trojan Sports, great market for broadcast journalism, best overall fit.

so… college…, Wisconsin. (Biomedical engineer in Viterbi). I turned down UCSD, Berkeley, Cornell, RPI, UW-Madison, Vanderbilt and dropped off the waitlist at Stanford, Yale, Harvard, UPenn to come to USC because of the great weather, awesome campus atmosphere/trojan spirit, scholarship, the educational philosophy in Viterbi (well rounded engineers), athletic domination, and about a thousand other awesome reasons!

thej0be, NJ. (undecided). I turned down Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Cornell, Washington University in St Louis, and Boston College for USC! i am now a trojan and love USC, LA, the people, the spirit, the campus… i am a presidential scholar and love the oppurtunities and number of majors and minors available at one of the best and happiest schools in the country

qzar, Florida. School of Cinematic Arts (Production). I turned down the two other schools I applied to: University of Florida and The Film School at Florida State. I’ve been wanting to go to USC for so long it feels like a dream finally come true. See you all next year! (Trustee scholar btw).

SoCalGal09S, CA. Marshall. Turned down UCLA & Berkeley. Ultimately chose Marshall because of a few independent scholarships and GLP. USC’s explore, esp. Marshall’s presentation sold him.

tinytrojan, TX! College (Letters, Arts, and Sciences) . I turned down Johns Hopkins, Rice, Northwestern, Berkeley, UCLA, Smith to come to USC because of the variety of majors offered which make doing anything in the world possible! and because of an amazing campus atmosphere!

rosinyangster, TX, Marshall. I turned down my chance to find out what colleges would have accepted me had I stayed for senior year (RHP student). I chose to take the opportunity because of the financial aid, the solid undergraduate business program, location in Los Angeles, and the fact that I suffer from junioritis.

anotherasian1234, CA, Marshall. well basically, it was between USC and another comparable business program out east…my friends (CA…haha), the school spirit, GLP, and the automatic presidential for NMF all led me towards USC.
anotherasian1234 is offline

ohkay, CA, Marshall Biz… This was three years ago… but I turned down regents scholarships to UCLA, UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Stanford, Cal Tech, Pomona College, Dartmouth to come to USC because of the Trojan spirit, academics, Greek life, and overall fit for my personality. I gotta admit, it was a tossup between Princeton (dad’s Alma Mater) and USC, but I’m glad my mother allowed me to stay in Socal and not go far away! I would probably be another pretentious prick at Princeton right now if I had gone there.

The Dragon, SoCal, Physical Therapy. I decided against Columbia, WUSTL, and Pitt. It was a hard decision but Alumni Network and future networking possibilities were the clincher. For PT’s the best advice I got was, “go to school where you’ll want to work and live when you’re done”. Rankings don’t really matter but having the top people in your field being your instructors means that you’re on the cutting edge of information that other people won’t get till later. Plus can you really beat the weather, girls, and social scene? nope.
