Hooks: Got a good recommendation from an alumnus who donates a lot of money to Brown

me too! i spent the summer there (summer@brown program) and fell even more in love with it. i would give anything to get in-- i was deferred ED and the waiting for the next 11 days is going to be H*LL!!!

Why do you want to get into Brown. compare it to the other Ivy Leagues. I think I might get in( got a letter), im elated, it's an ivy league after all, and i read somewhere brown students are the happiest.

Brown is the only Ivy League I applied too. Actually, in general, I don't like the Ivy Leagues. Stereotypically, they're stuck up and all about "names" with an education that doesn't match the hype. Plus, I'm not crazy about New England weather-wise (I live in Massachusetts). But I really liked Brown..I found it more "open" than the other Ivies, both academically (the open curriculum) and otherwise...it was a school I could actually see myself going to and not feel overly uncomfortable with the people around me.

For me, the primary draw was the open curriculum. The level of student activism, happiness, and the cooperative atmosphere were welcome additions that made it clear to me that it was where I wanted to go.
