I've fallen out of love with classical economics

Actually, nauru, he's kind of right. People with a rigorous background in math make the best economists, which was a point made earlier in this thread.

^ I wish was smart enough for that ORFE stuff. Alas, I am not. Or rather, I'm not willing to get a 3.8 in honours math and an 800 on the math GRE.

I was planning to study economics until I realized that to be truly good in that field, it’s necessary to know math very well, and if one wants a social science, there are better options.

I’m an Econ major and I love it. However, I would never consider becoming an Economist - obviously most undergrads, no matter if they’re majoring in English, Pol Sci, Psych, Math, Bio, you name it, aren’t going to get their Ph.D’s. Most Econ majors end up in the Business world.

Undergrad should be a time to major in something you truly enjoy. It’s not trade school - going to college used to be about a traditional liberal arts education, not that there’s anything wrong with “trade” majors. Do whatever you’re intererested in.

Me, I’m interested in subjects like Econ, Govt, International relations, even History. An Econ major is really flexibile so
I can take a variety of liberal arts classes. I plan to go to Law school someday, so my undergrad degree is essentially irrelevant (except for certain types of law like patent law, but i’m not going into that field). So I picked Econ because it genuinally interests me and will keep me occupied til Law school  Major in whatever you like. If you dislike Econ, so what? Pick another major, there’s plenty to choose from.
