I've got questions and I need help!

Ok. So I got deferred from MIT EA.

My questions are:

1) Can I send them my new sat score? I've raised it up to 1550 (750cr, 800m) from 1480.

2) Can I change some parts of my application (my essays)?

3) Can I ask the MIT why I was deferred and how I can improve my chances?

Thank you!

For #3, the answer is categorically "no".

Can I call admissions to find out The Reason why I was deferred?
If you call in, we will not be able to tell you "the reason" why you were deferred, or "what needs to be improved," simply because things are much more complex than just one reason why you were deferred. Usually, when I take a call from a deferred applicant, there's nothing that I see to be lacking or needing improvement -- most of our deferred students submitted very strong applications, the kinds of applications any school (including MIT) would love to have in their student body. Honestly.

That and other advice for deferred students are in this blog entry.

Aww man...

Mollie, can you answer my other 2 questions then?

1.) Yes.

2.) I highly doubt it, but I have no official knowledge.

ah man. now im gonna get rejected them.

i need to edit my essays!

If there's some sort of technical/factual error, I'm sure you can send in an addendum of some sort.

Edit: I'm pretty sure you can send in an addendum for any reason, I'm just not sure you can actually Edit and resubmit older essays.

Ben's blog today answers a ton of questions, including:

You can't change your application in any way, but you are always welcome to add to it. Additional essays and recommendations are welcome (as long as they provide additional context and do not simply repeat what is already there), and we want to know about any new awards and accomplishments.

As far as I know (I got deferred too) you can send supplements (that includes extra essays) but just try to make it really matter, meaning, don't send things that aren't FABULOUS about you.

1) Yes you can, just request a copy to be sent in the College Board website

3)no no, Matt said that all of our applications are great so they wont know what we might improve :s
