It's called The Insider's Guide to the Colleges...orange cover, published by the Yale Daily News. Anyone else have it/read it before? I've found it interesting and informative, and just wanted to know how people thought the reports in that book stacked up against the real college experience. It's written by students, so I'd think it would be pretty accurate. I just want to make sure.

It's good information. Gives you some additional information and texture on the schools beyond the statistics. You should also take a look at the Fiske guides. We found them to be helpful as well.

I like the way the Insider's Guide treats each college... I felt that Fiske wasn't particularly good at evaluating a college on its own terms and preached more to parents than to students.

The newest edition of the Insider's Guide is white, though I imagine the orange one is fine as well. They only vary slightly from year to year-- just double-check the information in the book for each college with the college itself, as details about housing, admission, etc. may have changed.

thanks a lot
