I (under)used Atkins, it's the best book for USNCO.

Um, what's the title?

Chemical Principles: The Quest for Insight

Am I the only one going "What the heck are they talking about??"

And wow, so many people already have plans to study during summer.
I'm going off to Egypt for my missionary trip!! Me very excited!! ;)
Plus I'll get a pleasant chance to drown myself in my own sweat XD

I don't understand what they're saying either.

I can't wait to get drunk everyday this summer and kill all the brain cells I used to pass chemistry!!! woooooohoooooooo!

LOL missionary? Wow....

For the record, a majority of Nationals attendees get there without putting themselves through onslaughts of study sessions; instead, they get there because of their natural knacks for the subject. So when said students already with an aptitude for the subject actually start doing immense studying sessions, they become powerhouses of sorts, leaving those who had to study entire books just to get to Nationals in the dust.

so, apparently my school sucks because the only one of those I've ever heard of is the USAMO. I gather that the others are similar, except in bio, chem, physics, etc. But what is the USNCO and USACO?

Well...that was me this year, lol. This was my first year of the olympiads (except math, which I took for the first time as a sophomore). I barely studied for the local exam (took a few practice tests) and got the second highest score in the state. While I should have been a "powerhouse"...my mistake (not even chem-related LOL!) cost me a spot as a finalist. I could have gotten semi finalist for Bio ( I took the AP already) but never got a chance to take the test...so Bio and Chem are my "knack" subjects, whereas USAMO...I'm gonna be "left in the dust" if I even MAKE it there.

What are these? I've never heard of them.

USNCO = US National Chemistry Olympiad
USACO = USA Computing Olympiad
