I've heard that the ACT / SAT are for "different kinds of students"

I haven’t taken either test yet, but from preparation, I immediately decided that I would probably only be taking the ACT. For me, it seems to take longer to figure out exactly what the SAT questions are asking, as in they aren’t very straightforward at all, though the skills are basic most of the time. With the ACT, the skills are basic, and there is no mask to cover them, therefore your score reflects your understanding of raw skills and not the ability to comprehend an ambiguous question. Also, not losing points for wrong answers on the ACT is a huge advantage.

Many promote the myth that the SAT is superior, but after I found out that most schools weigh the tests equally, I decided not to waste more money with College Board when I know that I’ll do way better on the ACT.

I like the SAT better. I didn’t prepare for the ACT and the time constraint killed me. I do better with the CB’s way of thinking than using what I learned in school for the ACT I guess. Really just depends on the person.

iin77- that depends on your definition of “do well” and “actually smart” are.

I know someone with a 2340 sat and 34 act, yet is barely pulling a B average.

I do alright with time constraints, the only issue with my SAT math is my horrible tendency to never be able to move on from the harder questions once I’ve done all the ones I can do. Oh, and I freak out on math tests. But generally on school tests I can stay much calmer and usually finish early.

Ok, to me, ACT>SAT. Why? First time i took the SAT i got a 610 writing. FIrst time i took the ACT i got a 23 writing. I prepped for the SAT over the summer, and pulled a embarassing 640 in writing. With no real ACT prep, i got a 34. Interpret that how you want to. ACT English is childs play compared to SAT writing

i’m wondering which score to send to a college… 2010 superscored (700 W 650 M 660 R)…(1990 if not superscored) or 29 ACT

2090 SAT Superscore

33 ACT Composite

The tests differ in that the ACT tries to test you, and the SAT tries to trick you

HAhaha SAT Writing is just as easy as the ACT one. I actually think I did worse on the ACT English… 33 versus 770… Anyhow, SAT > ACT any day for me.

oh I got
1930 SAT
31 ACT

I thought ACT was impossible..until I took it again. It’s just the time. =D

haha that’s definitely not how it is for me aqua lol.

34 vs 640

SAT Writing is WAY harder than ACT English

720 versus 35

haha i wonder if my test was flagged. I went from 23 to 34.

HAhahaha That’s a huge difference.

I wonder if I would do better on the ACT than the SAT if I actually decided to study for the ACT just as much as I did for the SAT. HMMM… something to contemplate…

haha after studying for SAT lit, the ACT lit seemed liek childs play. I didnt study for the ACT tho, i studied for the SAT. i was wondering the same thing

Maybe I’ll actually try to study for the December one. Hahaha xD
Late Registration. Darn.
