I've made my college choice!

And I've decided to attend Clemson University in the fall! But I was wondering...I was accepted into the Honors Program so I'm wondering whether or not I should stay in Holmes Hall or not. Like I feel that I won't be able to have the "traditional" college experience if I do stay there. I feel people will always be in their rooms all the time since there is no real need to come out since they each have their own bathroom. Is that true? What have your experiences been while staying there? What's the best place to stay in your opinion? I was thinking Holmes or one of the shoeboxes. Also, are there any freshman, co-ed dorms? Thanks! I can't wait to go to Clemson! =)

In addition, I feel like it’d be harder to meet people in Holmes, so that’s one of the reasons I’m not sure about it. Also, do freshmen room with upperclassmen in Holmes?

Congrats on choosing Clemson!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about Holmes. Some complain that it is not as social of a dorm and that you should live somewhere else if you want a good social life while others have made a good group of friends among the Holmes kids. I don’t know personally since I don’t live in Holmes. Clemson House, Johnstone Annex and Johnstone Main are the co-ed dorms for freshman next year (Johnstone is the worst dorm quality wise on campus but it’s the biggest party dorm on campus). I don’t think freshman room with upperclassmen in Holmes.

I’ve also heard mixed reviews about Holmes, but most of them have been positive. Most of the honors students are just like you- they want to have a good time (and do well). I know some people who had very social halls in Holmes. I would look at is this way- In Holmes you probably won’t have trouble finding people to go out with (or party in the dorms with) during the weekends. At some other dorms, there will likely be people doing stuff every night in the dorm.
