Right now I am currently in my dorm while all the other freshman's are going to their connections classes. Why you ask? A bloody sprained ankle!!!!

Yesterday I was on the quad playing ultimate frisby. I jumped to catch a high throw and landed on my left foot the wrong way. Now I can't even move it or I'll eek out in pain. Luckily though, I talked to my peer mentor and i'm going to get a scooter to ride to class soon and to make it to my appointment with a school doctor. But now I need your help...

I need an awesome story to explain how I got this sprained ankle and scooter.

I'm looking on the lines of

Realistic beginning -> Fight Scene -> Completely unrealistic ending that oddly enough is scarily believable

I have a good story for you. How about “I was on the quad playing ultimate frisby and I jumped to catch a high throw and landed on my left foot the wrong way.”.

They don’t know you well enough for you mess with them. They will remember you as a liar, instead of the merry prankster you think you are. Frosh are literal and trusting so when they find out you embellished they will not forgive you for duping them. Just saying… girls especially…

Can you put any weight on it? That sounds like more than a sprain to me, you should be able to hobble around some.
Why are you waiting to make an appointment. Just go in to the clinic for heavens sake. You need to see if you fractures a bone, and if not, get it taped up. Just go into the clinic and wait.

Actually my daughter severely sprained her ankle once and absolutely could not put any weight on it. He foot was just kind of dangling and it turned out the ligaments were so stretched out she could not move it or raise it at all let alone walk on it. There were no fractures. The hospital put a temporary cast on it (they were out of the plastic walking cast things so a very disgruntled locum had to put an enormous old fashioned plaster cast on it). She had to go see her ortho (she is accident prone so we refer to him as ‘her’ ortho) and he said a very severe sprain can be worse than a fracture and sometimes harder to fix. When he removed the hospitals plaster cast even the bottom of her foot was black and blue - it was very weird. She ended up with a cast and crutches for several weeks but there was a possibility of surgery. The recovery was longer than when she broke her other ankle in 3 places and had to have pins in it.

You should get your foot checked out thoroughly to make sure it’s not broken. My son broke his foot right before he started at a new school after transferring. He was playing basketball and came down on the side of his foot. He had to start with crutches in the middle of winter with snow on the ground. It was a difficult beginning unfortunately, but he got through it. He used the resources on campus - the disability services were very helpful. I hope yours is not too serious and you have a quick recovery.

I sprained my right ankle so badly during March that I couldn’t rotate it without feeling extreme pain. The only way I could get around was hop on my left feet; putting my sprained foot down on the floor alone was painful.
