My DS didn't put his AP scholar with distinction in his additional award part section, should he?
He said it is obviously from the AP scores he reported that he earns this award, so he doesn't want to include it (he tried to not have his additional info part exceeds one page). But I see a lot of CCers put this award in the result treads, I have doubts now.

I don’t think that it will make a lick of difference in his admissions outcome…agree with your S.

Thanks ellemenope.

I agree with your son. It’s redundant.

I was thinking to ask him putting this award just 15 min ago (feedback from my other tread), now I change my mind again. :)

He should list under Academic Awards (National). If he has already submitted Common App once, he can create an alternate version. Don’t assume admission officers will deduce anything in the 15 min they have to review an app.

I’m with Sunbite, it can’t hurt to add the one line…just in case.

Thank you sunbite and WordWorld.
My son already have listed other 5 awards in the academic honor section, so he will have to list it under “additional info” part. Yes, he has created a new version since the original one (for EA school) has many minor mistakes. :)

Momof2HB. This is an example where the kid is correct. Having Five AP’s with the applicable grades will infer that your kid has attained the Scholar of Distinction Award.

Congrats to him!

AP Scholar with Distinction is a pretty big (National) Award and should displace a lesser School Award on the 5 item list. He can upload an Additional Info doc with extra awards (including non- academic). I make my living doing college counseling, and this is how I advise my clients. Good luck!

The kid’s right. Mine didn’t put it in, and he didn’t even put in NMS finalist.

Didn’t matter, he was admitted ED.

And Mum even found a missing word in one of the essays after my son hit the send button!:(

^My son get deferred by both of his EA schools. That’s why I’m doing some researches to see if there should be any “improvement” in his Common App. DS also made few minor mistakes in his original version. Even me and him reviewed the app for few time, we still didn’t catch those mistakes.

Still debating this AP award with my son and will last until he click submit tonight…
