Ivies Admit Rates - Class 2013

Harvard 7 (about same last year 7.1)
Yale 7.5 ( from 8.6)
Columbia 9.8 (from 10 last year)
Princeton 9.8 (higher than last year 9.3)
Brown 10.8 ( from 13.3)
Dartmouth 12 (from 13.2)
U Penn 17 (about same from last year)
Cornell 19 (from 20 last year)

The biggest drop this year was for Brown which also had the highest increase in applicants from last year (21 %)

Princeton was the only one to have a higher admit rate.

Damn, lol.

Insanity!

U Penn went up also

Brown was interesting this year. A lot of competitive applicants from my school didn’t get into Brown when they seemed perfectly capable of doing so, not that it was ever a sure thing.

As for me, I got into Harvard and Yale but got waitlisted at Brown.

Wow…I’m glad to have snagged my acceptance at Columbia, and a harvard waitlist spot.

I know a few on that same situation. I think no one can ever figure out which way these institutions go.

I’m in Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Columbia, and Brown

What should I do?!

^ Depends what you want to do.

Make a new thread :stuck_out_tongue: And congratulations!

****, and I thought the class of 2012 had it rough

Of course what we dont know is – has the average number of ivy apps per student increased.

Based on these numbers:
“Harvard 7 (about same last year 7.1)
Yale 7.5 ( from 8.6)
Columbia 9.8 (from 10 last year)
Princeton 9.8 (higher than last year 9.3)
Brown 10.8 ( from 13.3)
Dartmouth 12 (from 13.2)
U Penn 17 (about same from last year)
Cornell 19 (from 20 last year)”

The percentage changes from the prior rate were:
Hvd -1.4%
Yale -12.8%
Col -2.0%
Pton +5.4%
Brn -18.9%
DMouth -9%
Penn n/a
Cornell -5%

Maricelag: what you should do? Look up humility and sensitivity in the dictionary.

“What should I do?!”

Do a barrel roll!

re: Princeton –

I think I recall reading that last year Princeton took fewer in admittance, and purposely created a very large wait list.

Perhaps this year it was a different admit/wait proportion.

In the end, they still fill the class.

Maricelag!! GO TO HARVARD!!! PLEASE :(

maricelag: don’t kid yourself
just go to the school you were actually accepted to i.e. state school

No need to lament… Most of us will be going to Tier II or even Tier III schools anyway.

Only a select few go a university deemed “elite” and even fewer attend an Ivy.

^ i disagree… even though many wont get into Ivies, I’m pretty sure the vast majority of CCers get into Tier I

Which are the Tier I schools?

Holy crap lol.

Stanford admitted 7.6% of its freshmen applicants this year, also a record low: http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_12046060
