I’m joining. I worked so hard to come up with a list of schools I wanted to go to/had at least some chance of getting in, and I did (7/7). But my parents forced me to apply to H&P (if you do some snooping and see my stats…you’ll see I have NO chance), so now my streak will be broken come Tuesday. I’ won’t be as broken up about it as I know a lot of CCers will be, but my dad sure will be.

@poseur: I think the issue is that seeing people celebrating their acceptance streaks might make others feel bad, while the “I got rejected” threads really aren’t going to affect us.

Way to be modest.

Hello! ^_^

Congratulations on all your college acceptances. But if you got rejected by one out of many, it isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things. We should be grateful we can evend attend college, and that we have options. That we have the resources or the means to acquire the resources to another 4-10 years of education.

I don’t assume to know anything about anyone else, but if we get in a funk over not getting one thing that we wanted, just like how we got the other 11 things that we wanted, we are way too self-involved.

And we should give people the benefit of the doubt here. Princessbell and everyone in her(your) situation probably aren’t bragging. If unexpected responses come from colleges, and you’re suddenly sad, you may post on a whim.

We can’t assume the tone of the speaker over the computer.

But after all that, I think that rejection humbles you. And goodness knows there are people who need a deflation. Egotistical people are large and upfront, but they aren’t impressive.

Really, why should “I just got rejected” threads be the only ones on this board? I think the OP tried very hard to stress that she wasn’t being insensitive, and I think that all of us are sympathetic to the fact that some kids have gotten some pretty unfavorable results. But by attacking her, and anyone else joining this “club”, you just make the rest of us feel bad for something we should be proud of…

I have six as well. the two hardest ones are coming soon. I’m afraid lol

i’m still amazed at the fact princess applied to 12. people around here look at me agast when i say i applied to 6. I don’t even bother to name them-when i say amherst they look at me dumbfounded, lol. I’m currently 4 for 4, about to be 4 for 5 i bet, or dare we all hope, undefeated?
–and i love the 12 for 12 or 4 for 4, with my last acceptance letter, all i had to do was text my friends, 4:4 and they knew what i was talking about

Maybe I’m an anomaly, but happy threads give me a warm feeling, whereas whiny threads make me roll my eyes and potentially regard the whiners with little respect for, you know, whining on the internet. : )

In reply to the person that asked why someone would apply to 13 colleges, the answer is simple.

There’s so many colleges that are of interest to people and all of them offer various financial aid packages. I have a friend that applied to 12 private very liberal colleges (Williams, Grinnell, Amherst etc…) and while getting accepted is good if they don’t offer the right kind of financial aid the acceptance does nothing.

Also applying to a lot of colleges is normal. Most people I know applied to at least 8, up to over 12. :)

Congratulations to the poster for getting 12 acceptances =) Hopefully Tuesday will bring good news.

streak to be broken by harvard yale dart and cornell FOR SURE

4 accepted so far w. 1 waitlist not too bad

nice job all

I’m with princessbell on this one. Even if this was a bragging thread (which it isn’t), I see no reason to insult her simply because she’s happy about her acceptances.

As for me, I have no rejections either. I’d join your club, but I decided not to apply to any Ivies as an undergraduate. :)

Ok. I will brag for PrincessBell. She has amazing stats, obvious a great personality, and wonderful experience at NIH. She deserves her streak, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ivies think so also. Congratulations PrincessBell, but I don’t envy you having to choose between all these incredible college opportunities.

I haven’t been rejected since my Stanford SCEA one (two wait lists though) but I definitely expect a major hit to my record on tuesday :P

I totally know what you mean…
Also got deferred from Yale
9 school streak, then waitlisted at UChicago >.<
pretty sure I’m going to get rejected from my last four schools though (HYPS T__T)

I’m sorry but why does it matter if you have a streak or not? What’s the importance in the whole grand scheme of things? Seriously, no offense but, if you care about a streak so much you should really reflect on your priorities.
