I’m currently a junior and was wondering what my chances are at schools such as UC Berkeley (Letters & Sciences), University of Michigan (Arts and Sciences), Cornell (Arts and Sciences), and University of Chicago (Arts and Sciences), Duke (Arts and Sciences) and Brown/University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences).

Probably good and would be better if you leverage golf.
There is no harm doing the recruiting questionnaires. Golf is like track it is easy to see if you can be recruited.
Also, most athletes playing at national events will get at least a long look from lower D1 and upper D3 programs even if never contacted by a coach.
Because the NESCAC schools really like student athletes, you could find golf a powerful tool at a top school. Same for many schools in the Patriot League like Colgate.
Good luck and hit em straight!
Where is your home state? Your uwGPA is rather load when compared to the admission stat at UMich. It would likely be a low reach for you as they put more value on GPA than test scores. Your SAT score is fine though.
Does that make the other schools high reaches? And in your opinion what are my target schools?
Thanks! I’ve contacted a few coaches already and they’re waiting for my scores in summer tournaments. What exactly do you mean by “leverage golf?”
Use golf as a lever…a tool to enhance your chances…
You should ask the coaches about each school’s “pre-reading” process. D1 has to wait until July 1 but D3 can recruit and do pre-reads now.
How do you compare to players already on the team? Each school has all this data on the websites.
I think your UW GPA is too low for the schools listed, unless you are a recruited athlete. Are you in the top 10% of your high school class?
I think your SAT is already very high and your unweighted gpa should not be a problem. You have tons of extracurricular and leadership program. Just take time to make your personal statement essay!
In my opinion, you have very very high chances to go to public top tier university like berkeley and ucla for all majors. Regarding the ivy league schools like brown princeton, you still have very high chances and depends on your major too for your acceptance
Good Luck!
Again, where is your home state? Also, your class rank may help. However, UMich does value GPA much more than test scores although your SAT almost makes it to the 75th percentile.
My school does not offer class rank and I’m from NJ
Unfortunately not, what do you think target schools are for me then?
What type of high school do you attend/do you have legacy? These factors will affect the chances of your admissions. Assuming that you’re attending a competitive public school, your GPA is very low to get into the schools you have mentioned (especially if you are out of state for the public schools you have mentioned). Your ECs are very impressive, so they will definitely help you. Since you’re a junior, it’s probably out of the question to improve your GPA. I suggest that you apply to a greater variety of universities and even some liberal arts colleges to improve the amount of acceptances that you have. Good luck with everything!
Thanks for the reply! Do you think that maybe applying to the Arts and Sciences rather than Engineering departments in certain schools with my academic profile will increase my chances of admission?
