Did research project for IBM on globalization

Im trying to figure out what I should apply early decision to, preferably a school that I already have a good shot at, maybe UPENN? Thanks guys

hey fellow junior!
our PSATs are pretty similar, i had 76 CR, 72 M, 73 W

i think you're in at UPenn for sure, but I'm not sure about HYPS - make sure you get killer recs for those
Cornell is not much of a reach, but don't be too confident

My brother got accepted into Harvard with SAT scores similar to yours (770 CR, 730 M), but he had Eagle Scout and a National Spelling Bee Championship + National Geography Bee Runner Up scholarships to boost his app to the top, so Harvard might be a really high reach unless you've got some REALLY outstanding stats

your research might help, if it got published.

hope i helped!

oh, and which school do you hope to attend?

hey man thanks for the post

Wow thats great your bro got accepted to Harvard. Was he the valedictorian of his school, and did he play and sports. And Id like to go to Upenn or Stanford. When you say I have a really good shot at Upenn, do u also mean the Wharton School of Business at Upenn, or just general admission.

Yeah he was Valedictorian and he didn't play sports...his senior year he did cross country though

I meant general admission, but if you get your SATs up to about 2300 (which is def. feasible) I'd say you have a good chance at Wharton (with a couple of good recs too)
-- oh, and same with Stanford

your stats look really great though, i would kill for your ranking- I slacked off fresh year and now I'm paying for it- the #1 at my school is just a nerd who stays at home all day and studies- no ecs no nothing lol

Wait, I swear I have seen this thread before...

lol, i no me 2.

dude, i'd say ur in in most places.

Of course, in with a huge merit scholarship at every ivy. Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and Duke's undergrad business schools will fight for you!!

newyorka, the ivies don't give out merit scholarships, just need-based aid.

plus, i don't think harvard, princeton, stanford, or duke has an undergrad business school.

You're a solid Ivy applicant. Whether you have something that stands out depends on your work with IBM and how you describe/explain that (probably a good essay topic) and what you do the next year and a half.

Sarcasm is so wasted here!

Haha sorry about that then. But you're right, it is wasted here.

i particularly like the samosa club. eating indian turnovers really demonstrates your commitment to intellectual life.

no your not in...ur SAT's good, grades are good (i've never heard about ranking by county though, but if that's how it is, grades are very good), you ECs are decent, but not extraordinary. So I'd say you have a strong chance at UPenn, Cornell, Michigan, Duke and Berkeley, but the others are a reach (as they are for anyone whos not an academic/atheletic star)

While on first glance I'm tempted to say YESS!!...on closer reading I come to a different conclusion. Disclaimer: Your stats are way better than mine ever could be, so don't be offended. You are ranked second in your county, which is absolutely great, but no offense, i know people with psat scores of 230s-240 and SAT scores around there too, and they are nowhere near as confident as you are. As for your gpa, how are you weighting it, because that is crazy high which is awesome, but is not really reflected in your AP scores. admittedly, those are great scores, but I would expect the second best in the county to be an AP scholar or something, with all 5s, or at least the majority...and also troubling is that your humanities scores are higher...at first I thought you came from a "weaker" area, but then you revealed that your father is a vp of ibm...you have excellent chances, far greater than mine, but with a few exceptions, it is up to chance...

samosa club? seriously? unless you helped feed starving Asian babies through this club, I would suggest leaving this off you app. In general just narrow the focus of you activites, you'll be fine. Oh and remember to pray to the gods of Harvard/jk.
