LOL
So what is the order for a business/econ degree?

Well, Penn would be tops for business/maybe econ because of Wharton.

Even compared to Harvard Business School?

Harvard Business School does not accept undergraduates. I may be mistaken, but I don’t think they are even allowed to audit classes at the B school. I certainly never saw any undergrads in any classes (except someone who was there as a guest of an admitted student).

I’d also say Wharton at UPenn. You can be an econ. major at Harvard, but that is a liberal arts degree, not a business degree. People do turn down Harvard for Wharton if they know that they want an undergrad business degree. HBS is a graduate school only.

^Just so there’s no confusion to others; you don’t imply ug business is more impressive than econ. Most ug business curriculum consist of introductory courses in wide array of areas, like having samplers under the appetizer menu. You probably know more about finance by reading “finance for dummies” than many people coming out of ug biz programs.

^^^To clarify, I was not trying to imply that one is better than the other – they are just different.

for business, it’s Penn-Wharton.

for economics, Harvard, Princeton and Yale then Dartmouth and Penn, then Brown and Cornell, I guess.

Don’t forget Cornell AEM.

Only ivy undergrad business schools are Penn-Wharton and Cornell-AEM. Wharton is at the top of the undergrad business hierarchy, which is on par with or closely followed by Harvard econ.

Based on ability to place into BB and MBB:
Harvard/Wharton
Princeton
Yale
-gap-
Dartmouth
Columbia
-gap-
Penn (non-Wharton)
-gap-
Brown
Cornell

Sorry my mistake on the HBS bit.
Interesting. I would’ve thought Cornell’s AEM was leaps and bounds above Brown’s business program…

Brown doesn’t have a biz program, only econ.

They do but only sort of. The admissions officer I talked to said it was essentially econ+psychology+sociology classes.

For elite jobs in business:

Wharton
Harvard
Princeton/Dartmouth
Yale
Columbia
Penn/Cornell

USNWR Economics Department Graduate School Rankings

Princeton, Harvard

Yale

Penn

Columbia

Cornell

Brown

We’re talking about undergrad here. I know there is correlation between a good grad department and a good undergrad department, but there is a difference.

^^^^ok, so lets talk about undergrad economics department rankings

would you say that any of the the above are out of order for undergrad?

are there any of the other schools that compare to Harvard/Princeton in undergrad economics?

Honestly, I don’t know enough about the subject to accurately rank the programs. However I would expect that the true rankings are not very different than the ones you posted above.

It’s not an ivy, but UChicago is tops in Economics
