My son is a rising senior and I would be curious to see what people think of his chances:

SAT: 2220 720 reading 760 math 740 writing
SATII: 740 math level 1
AP: 5 Calc BC 5 World History 5 Spanish 5 Government
GPA: 3.9+ uw 4.5+ w

EC: His big extracurricular is tennis. He is a nationally ranked player (top 200) and goes all over the country playing in all the nationall championships. Ivies recruit players in the top 100, but if he got in on his own, I am sure he could walk on the team and play lower down. He can be recruited for tennis at all the good DIII schools (Emory, JHU, Amherst, etc).

A player in the top 200 is a candidate for recruitment by the Ivies. For evidence of this, go to tennisrecruiting.net. Players in the top 200 as defined by that site are 4-star players; both Yale and Princeton are listed as having commitments from 2011 graduates with 4 stars (as well as those with 5 stars). You can check the recruiting history of any college team on that site.

Do you have a school or club coach who is helping you with this process? If he is a rising senior, it is time to make sure you have a trusted advisor. Some rising seniors have already made verbal commitments to play tennis in college.
