SAT: Took it yesterday, expecting around 2150 ish - Will definitely go up when I retake in March
ACT: Expecting 33/34, will confirm in April

Chance me for:
MIT (reach)
Carnegie Mellon
Cornell
UChicago
UCONN (safety)
Dartmouth
Columbia
NYU
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach)
Cal Tech
Berkley

As a side note, my high school does have a good amount of people going to top colleges in the nation, not sure if this makes a difference or not

Id appreciate if you explain why you said what you said

Thanks guys!

bump!
anyone?
not even one? :(

Not even one? :O

You have decent GPA

You have okay SAT, but it would be good to have 2200+ SAT superscore for any schools.

Ping Pong is a great hook for you. I think you may want to show the leadership that you have through accomplishments in ping pong

Are you applying any for ED?

MIT (reach) - Yeah. High Reach.
Carnegie Mellon - High Match
Cornell - Low Reach
UChicago - High Match/ Match
UCONN (safety) - IN
Dartmouth - Low Reach
Columbia - Reach
NYU - Low Match
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach) - Reach
Cal Tech - High, high reach (because of small school size)
Berkley - Low Reach

Now, please chance back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/880286-chance-me-please-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Huh kmg?

This guy is in to UCONN, NYU, and probably Cal Tech for sure. The others are a little iffy but you have a much better chance than others.

A 4.5 is not decent <_<

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/881125-insert-quirky-chance-plead.html</a></p>

uhh… kmg are we talking about the same caltech -.0 the number 5 university in the US

well I’d say pretty good chance in for cornell, cmu, dartmouth, uconn, NYU (match/high match)
idk about ucb since you’re oos
with a little luck you can get into columbia, upenn, uchicago (reaches)
mit, caltech (reach)

something I did notice is that your AP scores and SAT IIs don’t seem to match the rest of your app…

Best chances are at CMU, NYU, and UChicago. In at uconn. UCB, Cornell-low reach. Rest are mid reaches. Very hard to judge without definitive standardized test scores.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/857370-accepted-bc-what-about-rest.html</a></p>

Your class rank is very good considering how good your school is. Aside from that, the rest of your academics are very solid. The AP’s will help you (if you get the scores you are aiming for) and actually taking college courses will look good.

Your EC’s are decent, though nothing really jumps off the page other than the fact that a lot of your EC’s are service oriented and you practice table tennis A LOT. The table tennis is interesting but I’m not totally sure it will really help you get into these schools.

You are a strong candidate as is, and will be very strong if your next round of SAT scores is above 2250.

MIT (reach) - reach
Carnegie Mellon - match
Cornell - high match/low reach
UChicago - high match/low reach
UCONN (safety) - safety
Dartmouth - lower reach
Columbia - lower reach
NYU - match
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach) - reach
Cal Tech - reach
Berkley - match

Would you mind? Your application has some similarities to mine.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/880243-ivy-chances.html</a></p>

Thanks guys!
cyber what do you mean they do not match?
I dont get it

Also, If I were to get 2250 + SAT would anyone of these chances significantly change or do you think that just 100 pts in SAT will not matter

What do you guys think I should apply ED to?

Sorry for double post :/

cyber…reply? :o

MIT, reach - if in March you get above 2300 on SAT I, it would be very good, then it all boils down to the essays.
Carnegie Mellon - match
Cornell - reach, but safer than MIT
UChicago - match (just pay attention to the essays)
UCONN - safe
Dartmouth - reach, safer than MIT and maybe Cornell
Columbia - reach, safer than MIT, but not Cornell/Dartmouth
NYU - match, maybe even safe. (unless you apply to Stern - in which case it’s a low reach)
Upenn (not wharton) - reach (less than Columbia, more than Dartmouth/Cornell)
Cal Tech - reach, less than MIT, more than Columbia.
Berkley - low reach/high match (would be safe if you were in-state).

Ok, thanks barty.
According to what you indicated, it all comes down to the SAT score o_o

Basically, this.
Ivy + MIT + Caltech: Unless you are recruited for table tennis or something of that sort ( I don’t even know if they do that), these will be Major Reaches. You literally have a grocery list ECs except table tennis, so you see why I say that.

@geek, well…they do recruit people but MIT and some ivies but there teams all suck. So there is no question I would get recruited but I would have to go talk to the coach there.
Thanks for reply.

If you get recruited, you have a great chance. If not …

MIT (reach) - reach
Carnegie Mellon - match
Cornell - high match
UChicago - high match/low reach
UCONN (safety) - In.
Dartmouth - mid reach
Columbia - mid reach
NYU - match
Upenn (not wharton, just Upenn, reach) - mid reach
Cal Tech - reach
Berkley - match - if instate

I would say not to assume anything about SAT or ACT.

MIT (reach) - Very High Reach. you will need excellent test scores
Carnegie Mellon - hopeful Match
Cornell - Low Reach
UChicago - low/mid reach
UCONN (safety) - IN FOR SURE
Dartmouth - Low Reach
Columbia - Reach
NYU -Match for sure
Upenn - mid Reach
Cal Tech - High, high reach very numbers based admission process
Berkley -mid Reach

your projected stats are good… so is your GPA make sure to get great recccs tho to really make you stand out

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/881656-chance-me-new-york-university-northwestern-university.html#post1064333749</a></p>

Thanks guys.
Does mid reach mean low reach? never heard of that before

Definitely emphasize table tennis when you apply to college, and maybe try to group your ECs into categories or something so it’s easier to read.
