Ivy applicants: how many subject tests are you taking?

Don’t take Math 1, unless you haven’t covered trigonometry/pre-calculus. Math 1’s curve is so wrong… :frowning: Level 1 is harder in my opinion…

I would agree with your statement that level 1 is harder. I took both yesterday and share your sentiments.

My youngest S plans to apply to Cornell and Olin, and is scheduled to take three subject tests next month: Math 2, Physics, and Chemistry.

How so? Is it just the curve?

Well, that is certainly a factor, yes. But it is not limited to the curve.

I, along with almost everyone I have spoken to, agree that the level 1 test covers easier material but asks harder questions while the level 2 test covers “harder” material while asking more straightforward questions.

^ Is Level 2 somewhat similar, then, to the SAT I Math section?

for people who are taking 3+, what scores are you guys looking for? not going to send if lower than 750, or just looking for 700+?

I’m aiming for 800s.

The only test on which I would settle for sub-800 is Literature.

I guess I have a poser. 3 posts up. ^

(counts 1…2…3) ohhh that guy

I’ll take as many as I need to get 3 800s. Then I’ll stop.

Actually, I’m pretty sure all colleges acknowledge score choice for SATs. That is, you choose which tests to send.

For Math 2, I want an 800, but for Chem, I’d be happy with 710+ [weaksauce, I know, but my Chem teacher is terrible…] For the history ones, 770ish is okay for me, but I’d prefer 790 - 800 since I love/am good at humanities.

^^What?

All colleges do not acknowledge score choice.

Of the two I’ve taken, I scored 790 on chem and 740 on literature. I want 800’s on Math II and US History in June. I expected a higher score on literature, but I don’t plan to retake.

Expecting 800s on all 6-8 of my subject tests, will be retaking as necessary.

@Luminouzz: Ooops! I meant score choice for SAT IIs.

For example, Stanford doesn’t acknowledge SAT I score choice, but allows you to chose which subject tests to send.

Jersey, is Literature one of those tests?

That would be one of the two which I have not made a decision whether to take or not, hence the 6-8.

It’s certainly one of the most difficult to land an 800 on. I will probably just forget about that test and not send my score.

@Jersey13: Why did you take so many?
