Where did you get in and where do you think you'll end up? What are the reasons you're picking that school?

I think this thread might be good for future reference, so please give lots of information!

I think I'll start.

Accepted: Yale SCEA, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia
Waitlisted: None
Rejected: None
Most Likely Attending: Yale

I just love the way alumni gush about Yale. It seems like an incredible place to be. Plus they are great at my majors (drama and a special ethics, politics and economics program).

Accepted: Columbia, Penn
I also got into Pitt full tuition (which is a $160k+ difference, full freight)…I will probably go to Pitt, but I am still looking at Columbia very seriously. Penn is off my list.

Accepted: Dartmouth and Yale
Waitlisted: None
Rejected: Princeton
Most likely attending: Yale

I think I like Yale’s residential system and social life more than Dartmouth’s, as well as its increased prestige (its a factor, and anyone who says it isn’t is lying.) Its enough to offset Dartmouth’s preferential location. Additionally, I know people who will be attending Yale; I can’t say the same for Dartmouth. It would make the integration into campus society less painful at Yale. Also, this is icing, but the Blue Marble for admitted students was seriously the coolest thing I have ever seen. Its very interesting to be able to see the many locations and schools other admitted students have come from, as well as look at how many students were accepted from each state (Oregon had 16).

Accepted: Columbia, Harvard, UPenn, Brown, Cornell
Waitlisted: Yale (I want to stay on, but my parents are pushing Harvard. Yale was my first choice.)
Rejected: Princeton (kind of surprised; NJ is my home state!)

Although my parents want Harvard, I am seriously considering Columbia…I’ll look at every other school seriously, as well, just to be fair. They took the time to accept me, you know.

My Princeton rejection is really irking me for some reason…

maricelag – Harvard is not necessarily the best school for your interests, even though it is the oldest and has the most prestige. Have a look at the reasons Yale is better, or Princeton, or Wharton, or Brown. Some of those reasons are on this page.

Geography
Residential System
Alumni loyalty
Special Academic Programs
Major-- for example, Harvard is Ok for engineering, but not nearly the best

I was really happy this morning (its 2 in the afternoon for me), now after three hours of sleep i’m just very confused as to which one to choose. I’ve never visited the States before so it’s not like i know what these schools “feel” like and whether they suit me. Dartmouth is out of the question because of the cold and frat boy-feel lol. Guess I’ll have to wait for financial aid details.

Which one should be better for political science/intl relation major? I’ll probably double major with economics as well.

congrats to everyone. accepted at all eight, learning toward yale but i really don’t know. this was a good idea for a thread!

my yale interviewer really sold me on the school. my harvard interviewer was apathetic at best about her experience there and my princeton interviewer was kind of aloof and pretentious so i didn’t learn much, but obviously i can’t make a decision based on the tiny sample of a school one interview gives.

grade deflation and a few other things at princeton worry me and the stereotypical obscenely intense hypercompetitive socially mediocre harvard is also pretty unappealing but i have little idea what it’s actually like in reality. i think i’m most concerned with social life at this point since the academics are so similar (probably majoring in psychology or political science and probably going to law school)
