Ivy Day 2017

USC hasn’t come out yet unless you got your decision by mail? Does USC mail rejections?

Just got waitlisted from Amherst and I’m super nervous about the ivies now…

@AznDude525 USC does mail out rejections but they’re a day after acceptance packages

@hungrihippo I know the uncertainty sucks but Amherst and the Ivies are totally different schools. There’s always a chance. Thinking positively for you!

if i get into cornell and/or penn i’ll literally start crying…ahhhhh

@emli8100 thanks for your positivity!! it was the first ‘reach’ (as my college counselor and naviance deemed) that I heard back from, so I’m super nervous for Ivy day! Good luck to you too!

Wow reading this thread is a shock, I never understand how people can manage to apply to all the Ivies and even why they would, since they’re all so different except out on a whim.

Biology major here! Applying to UPenn, Cornell, Yale, Harvard, Columbia.

The reason many get rejected is precisely because of to many apps. The essays for these schools are nuanced and the AOs can tell if the student didn’t know there school or is a bad fit because the app was tailored for say Brown and they are applying to Columbia and Dartmouth too. @Cressidy

How is everyone waiting until the 30th? And best of luck to everyone Thursday ofc

@emli8100 by distracting myself as much as possible! Honestly though, at this point the toughest will be Thursday, 6AM-4:59PM lol

@chocolatemochi You think its hard 6am-5pm, try being from Europe with 6am-11pm. It will be a hell of a day, I had to remind myself how to breathe so I don’t pass out today before Wesleyan’s decision[got accepted], I can’t imagine how Ivy Day will pan out, its the only date I think about for the past 3 months

@suzyQ7 That’s why schools have been getting way more apps, and people have been getting rejected even more. If students actually focused on finding the right reaches, matches, and safeties for them instead of applying to schools for the hell of it or because the school is prestigious, they would be happier with their admission results

My daughter only applied to Brown, deferred ED so ivy day has a lot hanging on it, accepted to Barnard and Kenyon with scholarship

I applied to all eight for some reason. So far, I’ve been accepted to Swarthmore, Colby, and Reed, and have been waitlisted at WashU, UChicago, and Amherst. No rejections… yet. Wicked nervous, but even more excited!

Hey guys. I’m so nervous for Ivy Day! It’s nice to know that for most people this is the day that the college process ends. Unfortunately, this is also a day that could lead to either heartbreak or happiness. I keep dreaming about rejections and acceptances from universities and it honestly is just too much to handle. I don’t know if you guys feel the same emotions I do, but I can’t wait to get over this stressful day. :frowning: At least all of our heads will be clear by the end of Thursday and we can make educated decisions about our future.

To everyone who’s freaked out about getting waitlisted/rejected from some competitive LACs: Don’t let those decisions color your outlook for Ivy Day. I was rejected by Amherst (my top choice) and waitlisted by Williams, yet I received a likely letter from Columbia. I think that the applicant criteria for LACs and Ivies have some significant differences. Also, it’s worth noting that, due to their size, LACs have to fill a larger proportion of their student body with athletes, musicians, etc. Hope this helps alleviate some (probably mounting) anxiety!

in what order are you guys going to be opening the decisions? in order from least to most favorite, or the opposite?

@yuvanni I’m opening in order from worst chances to best chances (in my eyes) :))

Harvard
Princeton
Yale
Columbia
Brown
Dartmouth
Penn

I’m opening based on preference (least to most interest, though the differences are minute):

Brown
Dartmouth
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
Columbia
Penn
