I only have two to open. Just gonna go for it!
I cant decide on the order, I want them all to send an e-mail at 5pm so I can snap the “Decisive Moment” and start opening. I might just go by preference(bottom to top) or by time of sending an e-mail. I really cant believe Doomsday is so close, rejected Amherst Williams but accepted Bowdoin Wesleyan BC NEU UCLA and Brandeis, so Im still really hopeful
i’ll probably open harvard -> columbia -> penn (and then whatever else i get that day)
i received a likely from harvard in feb. but rejected from northwestern and waitlisted at uchicago. all im waiting to hear from is yale and stanford ahhh im so anxious all the time because of it
Going for my favorites last. I haven’t completely decided on the first schools, but I know I’ll be opening Columbia, then Brown last.
I just realized that Berkeley is releasing decision the same day. Anyone else apply UCB?
@valsedeladieu I did!
Anyone else apply to NYU? They are also releasing decisions on the 30th lol
i’m gna open them from best chances (if thats even a thing lol) to the worst chances, because i feel like if i do it the other way i’ll be clinging on to some hope only to get crushed in the end, whereas this way i’ll just know from the start if that makes sense
Only applied to Brown but I definitely think if I’d taken more time I would have applied to one or two more. It’ll be a short Ivy day for me lol.
I think I’ll do:
Princeton
Yale
Harvard
I have work right after school though, so I’m trying to decide whether to check on my break or just wait until I get home. I don’t know if I’ll be able to wait!
probably going to do Penn first (because idrc) and Cornell last (got a likely letter, so that’ll end on a high note). don’t know about the others (Harvard/Brown/Princeton/Columbia), though, since I care about them equally. (might open Harvard first out of those four since I know I won’t get in :^))
@Chips99 I applied to NYU too! Hoping it will come out before the Ivies
I read on a Harvard thread a while back that one applicant’s portal showed that something had been submitted regarding the kid’s application though the portal in the middle of the night. The applicant had not submitted anything at all and was asking whether he had been “hacked.” The CC consensus was that an update on grades had somehow been submitted automatically to kid’s Harvard application. Can anyone confirm whether this automatic updating of grades occurs? Further, do you think the Ivies have such a late (March 30) decision date in order to check-up on grades automatically and to weed out applicants that have senioritis? Let’s face it, with tens of thousands of applicants, could they be using up-to-date grades to further eliminate potential applicants?
@Sam-I-Am I have no idea about the automatic updates but no the Ivies don’t have a late decision date to check on your second semester grades. The only time they’d see those is when you report them upon high school graduation and they rescind you from there. I feel like the decision date is so late because many safety/match schools come out before then so an Ivy rejection doesn’t cause too much panic or upset over “where am I going to college”/“am i going to college”.
I am new in this post. I am a mom and my daughter was already accepted in her dream college in EA. Anyways she is totally happy, but I am still super nervous about Ivy Day, waiting for 6 (she already received a likely letter from Cornell…)…these hours are passing in slow motion…
Don’t forget that if you are rejected from your dream school, there is still chances to get there for graduate school. My nephew went to WashU for college, and was accepted in Yale for Med School…
And a question…are the Ivy emails coming out all at once at 5 o’clock???
I don’t think the date is late. It’s in line with other colleges that have a 1/1 application deadline. IMO the date is needed to go through the 30-40K applications. Certainly since all Ivy League schools require a midterm report, 1st semester grades can either help or hurt an applicant.
I applied to all of them. God help me
I applied to Columbia, Yale, and Brown (already accepted by Bowdoin, so I’ll go there if I don’t get into any of them).
It’s so soon… I’m so nervous!!!
Do they actually all come out at exactly 5, or after 5?
@whmustangs28 I’m pretty sure they stagger them so some might release a little bit before and a little bit after so that their websites don’t get overwhelmed and crash.
