Ivy Day 2017

If he gets into Dartmouth, I think you will need to book those plane tickets for revisit in April (both schools)! @binky17

Yes! And if so, save us a spot at lunch on the 9th @suzyQ7

@chocolatemochi My safety is super cheap and better than the Ivies for engineering so I really was just like “go big or stay at home”

^^^LOL^^^

Ok…Tomorrow… X_X

@binky17 I’d recommend NEU over Dartmouth. The city is a big plus and their experiential learning is a big plus. NEU is on the rise…a steep one…Dartmouth not so much. It doesn’t really compare with Harvard Yale and Princeton I think it is personal fit but I would choose NEU over Dartmouth.

@jhosk10 thanks. This is definitely a prevailing perception these days.

@jkfs123 That is amazing!

Your Quote: " SAT I super score was 1200 and on the AP scored (2) (2) and (3). However despite my trash scores I was accepted to Princeton SCEA 2021. Admission officers truly look at applications holistically.

Dream big!" :))

Duke is coming out today at 7pm…yay!!!

My son has applied to Dartmouth, Columbia, Princeton and Brown. Not sure how great his chances of getting in are except for Dartmouth, as he’s a legacy.

Parent here: I’ve been following this thread for a while, and I felt the need to say I hope every one of you magnificent &*#$%#s gets admitted where you want! Good luck to you all! I will be watching the results and rooting for you.

I applied to all but columbia! Good luck everyone

@basquiat ayy that’s perfect! Yeah my “safety” (more like target lol) is UMich but I always wanted to go out of state ehhhhh

@2sunny I actually wasn’t too surprised I was accepted because my life has been such a crazy ride that honestly anything was possible. Whether I was accepted or not, it would still have reaffirmed that for me, life always takes unexpected turns.

I was always hopeful that I would get in, but I kinda had a feeling life had a “we owe you one” moment? Not that I was entitled to anything but I think my acceptance evens out some of the terrible situations I have been placed in.

I am also a somewhat believer in destiny? I felt as though the universe had set a path for me to follow my studies at Princeton ever since it became my dream school and I participated in two PU summer programs.

Anyone placing “bets” on where they’ll be rejected from? So far my list is very depressing, but trying to stay positive for the final 27 hours!!

@chocolatemochi Same here! I’m going to Georgia Tech if I don’t get in anywhere OoS

@basquiat dude Georgia Tech is so good for engineering!! Happy for you and best of luck to both of us!

@chocolatemochi #2 in the nation for Aerospace Engineering!!

Looking to procrastinate, so figured I would chime in.
@binky17 I’m currently a freshman at Dartmouth, so if your daughter or son has any questions, feel free to contact me. Dartmouth is entirely about fit, so I would definitely recommend a visit before your child makes a final choice.

With that said, wishing everyone good luck tomorrow!

Good luck, everyone! I am currently an undergraduate freshman and Ivy Day was really nerve-wracking for me last year. I only applied to two Ivies (Yale and Princeton) and I was rejected at Princeton, but accepted at Yale where I’m now a student! My SAT scores and grades weren’t bad, but they were below average for the Ivies I applied to and I only heavily participated in one real extracurricular during high school, so there are certainly a lot of other factors that can influence admission (I certainly wasn’t expecting an acceptance as I’d already been rejected/wait listed at multiple colleges with 20-25% acceptance rates).

I also want to emphasize that while Ivies help with connections in the job world, I wouldn’t say they offer a college experience that is miles above any other school. I’m at Yale now and there are things I really love about it, especially since I’m able to pursue a really niche field that I love here, but there are certainly things that I wish I could change and I haven’t been able to find my place in the social environment here. There are pros and cons to each college and what’s most important is finding one that’s a good fit for you, not simply the highest ranked one.

Anyway, people are welcome to message me if you want to chat about Yale in particular, but I’m also only a freshman, so I still have a lot to learn here!
