I have full day of school, 2 hours of volunteering from 2:45 to 4:45pm, and then I have work at 5pm. I feel like I am going to force myself to leave my phone at home just so I don’t try to check my email while at work. I don’t want to cry in front of my student
Do you guys think it’s bad to be hopeful and optimistic? I’ve tried to be realistic and accept that I’ll be hit with rejections in eight days, but it would be nice to feel more confident for once :’)
ayy took my 4th L givin up any hope i had for ivies
Remain optimistic!!! I am sure you already have acceptances so just know that no matter what you are going to college somewhere and ultimately that is what is most important! No matter the college Ivy or not it will be what you make it! Good luck!! @chocolatemochi
You’re right, and thanks so much!!! @STEM2021 Best of luck to all of us here, hopefully we all get good news!
Just got rejected at Williams, no hope now
@AznDude525 I feel you so much. After getting rejected from Pomona, I can’t even hope to get into my Ivies :((
@chocolatemochi
Honestly, I have no expectations of getting into any ivy, so then there are two options (neither of which would be emotionally scarring XD):
A. You don’t get it, but you were already mentally prepared for that, so it’s going to be okay. Your world won’t implode and you won’t have a mental breakdown like some other people I know.
B. You do get in and it’s a great surprise! Yay! I got in despite all odds and deserve it
So far, that mindset has make college letter time stress-free for me
A friend was telling me that Northwestern cares a lot about yield protection, and thus rejects those that they expect to get into ivies. I noticed that other extremely qualified friends, several of whom were full scholarship finalists at Duke/USC, were rejected/waitlisted from NU. That makes me wonder if NU accepted me on the basis that I probably wouldn’t get into a higher-ranked school. Is there any validity to my friend’s claim? Don’t get me wrong, I am incredibly grateful and shocked that NU accepted me, and would be happy to attend; however, my dream schools are Harvard/Brown/Penn.
Ivy day is nerve racking, but I got likelies from Cornell and Columbia, so I’ll open those last to cheer myself up.
@ambitionsquared I hope that’s true lmao. I think it’s feasible, but honestly at NU’s tier, colleges are already in that ‘general crapshoot’ level
applied to Brown, Harvard, and Yale, and will be over the moon if I get into at least one. haven’t applied to any small, competitive LACs but I was waitlisted at UChicago so fingers crossed that I’m at least seriously considered for an Ivy.
right now I’m just counting down the days til the 30th; all I can think about is hearing back from my last four schools and figuring out where I’ll be going. school is crushing me right now bc of this distraction too ahh
T-minus 7 days…
I feel like I’ve been waiting for forever. To think that I’m finally going to be able to make a decision about where to actually spend the next 4 years of my life is crazy. Good luck to everyone!
(super late joining here lol) I applied to HYP, Columbia, Cornell and UPenn. I also got a Cornell likely! UPenn and Columbia are my top choices though
Only six days left! It’s so crazy that Ivy Day is coming up so soon, especially since I’ve been counting down the days since January #:-S
Have been counting down since October and then December after deferral… can’t wait to receive the decision, whatever it might be
I just hope I don’t get waitlisted. Anything is better than more waiting. I just want a definite answer at this point.
Hello all, parent of international Ivy hopeful here. Embarrassed to say I’ve become a stalker of a few threads on CC.Not sure if I can survive until Thursday 30th. Good luck to all hopefuls and congratulations to those who’ve already received LLs.
@Yorious At least we can all suffer together until the 30th lol. The amount of time I’ve spent on CC is definitely not healthy…
LOL does getting rejected from USC mean I have no chance? Was accepted at Berkeley, UCLA, Davis, Irvine, Santa Barbara and San Diego; Davis/Irvine/SB with Regents
