Ivy dorms

Have you ever been to New York City? It's called "the city that never sleeps" for a reason.

Our dorms come with framed copies of USWNR in the living room.

"Have you ever been to New York City? It's called "the city that never sleeps" for a reason."

Yes, many times. But there is a big difference between living in a student area like the Washington Square Park area of Greenwich Village and the Upper West/East Side.

...and NYU is only expanding within (lively, bustling) downtown, not in the Upper East or West Sides. Are you confusing it with Columbia? (which is not expanding in the residential UWS either, BTW)

Most of the opposition to NYU's expansion, from what I can tell, has to do with the perception that they're wealthy, spoiled suburbanites who would ruin the "culture" of the area, not that they're any more or less noisy than any of the people who descend on the Village nightly. They seem to be under the bizarre impression the school is a skyscraping version of Princeton or Duke because it's suddenly become less of a commuter school and increased its appeal substantially. This sort of class warfare rhetoric is absurdly common in New York.
