Ivy League 2010 Transfer: General Question

I was just curious as to the process of applying to an Ivy League from a community college. Is that common? Can anyone give me advice or let me know any experience you've had with this?

Thanks! :)

heya, check out the ivy sites, but they are “open” to community college transfers, for the most part. to reiterate, i applied to cornell, dartmouth and yale.

make sure your GPA is HIGH and that you take the SAT I, preferably with the subject tests (i did not take the latter, but i have a career to help with credibility).

upenn is also a good option, as are some of the other private universities.

most important thing is to do your research on which program is the best fit for you. an ivy does no good if the professors don’t match your interests.

okay, well, it does on your resume, but you might be miserable for a few years.

by the way, some ivy’s take sophomore transfers (like cornell).

some colleges such like dartmouth are community college freindly~~~ while others such as yale seldom admit community college students.

It should be noted that all, with the exception of Harvard and Princeton, take transfers. It’s rare, sure. But it happens every year.

I think all the ivies take Community College transfers… except Harvard and Princeton

The Ivy league is an athletic conference, there is nothing different from applying to transfer to one of the 8 schools in the Ivy league than to any other college in the nation.

You need to: read the sticky thread, Transfer Admissions 101; Search this forum for relevant threads; and read the websites of the college you’re interested in.
