Ivy League Acceptance Chances? or other top schools?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a sophomore in high school looking to get into the ivy league. My GPA is 3.8, 4.33, 4.58, 4.75 based on my future classes till senior year (assuming i get all A’s which I’m not too worried about). I got a 34 on my ACT and a 1560 on my SAT. Other than scores, I am a top national level tennis player who can definitely play ivy league level tennis (or any other D1 school). I had a leadership position for FBLA (future business leaders of america) my freshmen year, and am currently the VP of business/tech and a co-founder of our school’s UNICEF club (volunteering and helping kids in 3rd world countries). Additionally, I tutor students in Math (all level) as a small job for some profit. My volunteering has been through various clubs (varieties of tutoring) , tutoring in our school’s academic center, as well as a 2-week international volunteering program. I have also interned at a hospital, and worked as a junior tennis coach at an academy. I am really interested in going to a top university such as any of the ivy leagues or Stanford. Would I have a sufficient chance of making it, or do I need to do something more impactful?

Thanks,
Ivy leage fan

I am also a very big Ivy League fan. I think everything looks fine but it seems a little bit regular. Maybe showing that you have a passion would help. An overall “theme” would be really nice showing that you are really passionate about a specific thing. Otherwise I think that you are doing well! Oh also take some AP courses showing that you like to challenge yourself. Good luck!

If you’re a recruited tennis player and the Ivy league coach at the school you want to attend wants you, you’re in for sure as you’re above their athletic cut-off. If you don’t want to play college tennis, then you’re looking good, but understand that applicants with your stats still get rejected more often than not (actually a lot more often than not) at Ivy League and other highly selective schools. Check out the threads on RD or ED decisions for the schools you want to attend – lots of rejects of extremely high-stat applicants.

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are great. Try to get recruited for tennis by reaching out to coaches at Ivies or other top schools. Write good essays and you could get accepted to any of these schools
