Please rate.
I’d truly appreciate any suggestions or comments on how I can improve my EC’s, and which classes I should take on my senior year.
Thanks

Where are you applying?

For classes next year, make sure you keep up with math, science, English, history, and foreign language. What classes are available to you?

No sorry, in America you have to get straight A’s to go to ivies -end sarcasm-

Well, I think you have a very good shot everywhere, I think you should apply early decision for an ivy you really want to get into. Maybe at Brown, or a lower ivy.

Chance me?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/695607-wrong-me-fall-love-these-schools-chance-me-tell.html</a></p>

Honestly, you sound pretty fantastic and I would be very surprised if you didn’t get into at least one Ivy. (Apply to Yale. We are the coolest.) Make sure you pour your heart and soul into your essays, and get fantastic recommendations. Believe it or not, they actually count.

As for APs, go for Spanish Lit. I’m self-studying it, and it’s awesome. :)

Do you think I should have stronger leadership positions? Thanks for the advice!

You have a really good chance at Ivy League schools but I suggest you also look at lower rank schools for safeties.

Please chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/695637-please-chance-scared-junior.html</a></p>

you could probably get into any school you want seeing as you have the whole package AND your Hispanic. that said, write some amazing essays and get good recs to clinch it, heh. gl!

Internationally bred, URM with close-to perfect grades, stellar scores, and awesome EC’s? You’re ivy-material, for sure. You’ll get into at least two or three of the eight. Mark my words.

How do you have a 5.0 GPA? Even with weighting, I imagine all those B’s would bring it down more. Your courseload/overall transcript is decent.

Your only EC that really sticks out is your charitable art work. I think that’s a really cool thing to do, but you don’t have much beyond that.

Don’t underestimate the power of AA. Overall, you have a good shot at the Ivies.

Yeah, I know my EC’s are not that great (except my charitable art work), I hope it doesn’t hurt my chances…

Do you think I should focus more on academics? Leadership positions? Internships?

Do you guys think winning a beauty pageant is relevant or worth mentioning?

You are a reasonable candidate at any school. If you’re Hispanic as in being from Spain, most schools will not consider you a URM.

“Hispanic/Latino is an ethnic category, not a racial category, and you may be of any race. For purposes of the NHRP, you must be from a family whose ancestors came from at least one of these countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, or Venezuela.”

Well, I was born in Spain and my parents are also Spaniards. That makes me 100% hispanic, right?

Colleges define Hispanic in different ways. The one I worked for did not include those from Spain in the Hispanic group they were looking for in terms of URM diversity.

Being from Spain = White, not Hispanic.

But still, I’m considered Hispanic. My parents were born in Spain, I was born in Spain, and all my other relatives are from Mexico!

I’m also from Spain, and I’m white but they’ve always marked me as “hispanic”.
My brother just got into Princeton, and has also been labeled as hispanic.
The good thing is that his “urm” status has granted him access to different scholarships and financial aid
Hope this helps

Oh, and are you going to request financial aid?
Overall, I think you have a pretty good shot.
It would be surprising if you didn’t get into at least one Ivy!!

Good luck

Thanks ladymadrid!
I assume you are from Madrid … It’s a beautiful city! :D

Yup, I’m from Madrid :)

Btw, which schools are you applying to?
