Ivy League and the like: A LOT of aid?

It seems to me that the most prestigous schools e.g. harvard, yale, princeton, upenn, and the like give the most financial aid.
At Yale, if a family makes under 60,000 they don't have to pay a dime.

Have you found this to be the case? Is this a new thing or has the middle class always had such benefits when it comes to top tier schools

This all changed in the last 10 or 12 month. Stanford changed theirs in February to the same sort offer. It is, however, extremely challenging to get into those schools. Some of them only have a 10% acceptance rate.
