I am currently a sophomore in high school and am very determined to make it into a top school and was wondering what you think my chances are. I am currently 3rd in my class of 622, with an unweighted GPA of 3.99 and weighted GPA of 4.17. I have not yet taken the SAT/ACT but was projected to get a 33 off of my PLAN test. I am currently a 3 sport varsity athlete as a sophomore, track since 9th grade and basketball and cross country I made varsity this year. I am likely to be a captain on 2 if not all 3 teams. I am a member of student council, as well as FCA(Fellowship of Christian Athletes). I was also recently accepted into my school's Wind Ensemble which is our top band, I've been in my school's band since sixth grade, as well as the National Honors Society. I teach Sunday School at my church as well as VBS which accounts for a large amount of community service hours. I also take all honors and was in AP US History this year as well as AP Calc AB, I am in my third year of Spanish and will be taking it all through high school. I know it is extremely difficult to get into the service academies so any response or suggestions of what I could do to improve my chances would be appreciated!

You are on the right track. Keep up your GPA, do well on your ACT’s, take more AP classes next year, enter into competitions such as Scholastic Awards or Intel (if you are interested in science), and spend your summer doing something productive - for instance, interning.

Good luck.
