http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/712115-am-i-being-realist-generic-chance-topic.html</a></p>

Lots of things working in your favor. URM status, low income/first gen, underrepresented state, val. With strong recs and essays you are an excellent candidate at all.

Yeah, you seem to have a really good shot at all those schools. Make sure your teachers like you and write good recommendations.

The only thing I would have to say is all of this (in addition to my original post) is that WASH U isn’t a need blind school, so since I’m sure you’ll need financial aid, that one could be a bit more iffy. Otherwise you essentially have this whole adversity thing down.

I agree- from an outsiders perspective you really have taken advantage of everything that has come your way and overcome many disadvantages, which is extremely appealing to this caliber of schools. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford are all reaches no matter who you are. If you are really intent on going to one of those schools, apply Early Decision. Otherwise, you are an excellent candidate for the rest of the schools on your list!

Thanks! I appreciate the input. :)

Kiterunner18,

You have excellent stats, the fact that you’ll be a first generation college student, URM, and overcome so much adversity, I’m sure that you will gain entrance to most of the schools on your list. I know that the Ivies are very selective, but I have a good feeling about you. You shoot for the stars and I respect that. I hope that everything works out for you and that your mother copes well with RA. Best of luck to you!!! :)

Could you chance me back, please?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/699897-am-i-track-ivies-duke-wake-vanderbilt.html</a></p>

Any suggestions as to what I can do to strengthen my app?

I think WashU would be generous with a candidate like this.

Focus on developing strong relationships with your teachers, and write solid essays. If you can do those two things, you’re going to go to an excellent school.
