My SAT scores are 2270...
CR:740
M:800
W:730
haven't finished my subject tests but i did get an 800 on world-hist and a 5 on apworld test. I received national merit and was chosen for girls state but couldn't attend.

Right now, i have a 5.0 GPA. I'll have taken about 15 AP classes all with straight A's.
I have about 100 hours community service in various areas

My one claim to fame is that i'm ranked nationally in rifle shooting. I have national records...I'm first in my age category, 3rd junior in the nation. I'm on the US National Team and this summer i'll be competing in Germany at the World Championships which i have a good shot at winning.

assuming i have a good essay, what are my chances at an ivy? (top choice: Brown; second choice: Princeton...they have a range!)

Your SAT scores are well within the right range for Brown and Princeton, on all three sections. Your GPA is also acceptable for admission (obviously, since you never got a B haha).

NMF and 800 World-Hist. SAT are both good. 100 hours of community service is okay, but nothing notable for schools like Brown and Princeton.

Your rifle shooting talents will definitely give you a huge boost: what I think you should do is make your CommonApp essay about the dedication and hard work it took to make it to the world championships. That’ll definitely fare will with the admissions committee, especially since you’ve performed so well.

You didn’t give other information that would help me chance you better (ethnicity, rank, work experience, other extracurriculars). But looking at only what’s on here, I’d say you have a decent shot at both schools. If you really hit the nail on the head with that essay, I’d venture far enough to say you’ve got a great shot.

Best of luck! :)

thanks!!!

well last summer i spent working actually at my mom’s office for almost 200 hrs. volunteered for 100 hours at the local library, and i do a ton of babysitting (should i put that in my app?!), i’m treasurer of Humanitarian club and hoping to be one of the vps for CSF (not yet decided…) i’ve been in a few math tournaments (math day at the beach csulb), active relay for life member (which also gets me a ton of hours), i’m bilingual (trilingual if you count spanish), and i played soccer internationally for the Maccabi Games but that was a while ago…

oh and i’m building a house for habitat for humanity this summer :)

If you focus on your rifle shooting, I think your chances will be very good. Definitely unique :)

Im going with you kind of already knew your chances were good… Its hard not to have good chances when you are nationally ranked (in anything), have a perfect GPA, very good SAT scores, and your only downside is the just pitiful, paltry only 100 hours of community service, plus a Habitat for Humanity Build.

Ok, let’s think. How many people are first in the nation in a sport? How many are even ranked nationally in top 10?

A handful compared to number of people applying to Ivy League schools each year.
