Ivy League cheerleading

Pretty scary: nuclear physicists by day, cheerleaders by night!

Not so scary -- I mean, at least we have a fundamental understanding of the physics behind our stunts, right? :)

And I was actually not just any MIT cheerleader. I was the captain!

molliebatmit-So if a semi-amazing (again, we're in NY, not TX) cheerleader applicant (with 2300 SATs -this is hypothetical) sent the MIT cheer team a DVD of her cheering, any chance the team would watch it and tell the admission office this girl must be admitted? And, more importantly, would admiss office care?

As someone who was also involved with the admissions office, I can tell you that the cheerleading squad has absolutely zero pull with admissions at MIT -- we're just a student-run club sport. (And even the varsity sports have very little pull with admissions -- talent in, say, baseball isn't considered automatically superior to talent in science competitions in MIT admissions, and often it's the other way around.)

The squad absolutely loves to have fabulous people, but we do all of our recruiting after the new class is admitted.

George W Bush cheered at Andover. I'm guessing that wasn't the biggest factor for Yale admissions though.
