Yeah, I think the pton board is in its own category
I have to agree that this is really unfair. The two schools that I am looking at (Georgetown and Berkeley) are arguably better, and get more applicants than some Ivies. I really think that other great, non-Ivy schools should get subforums, too.
Duke got more applicants than many of the Ivy’s, but it didn’t get a forum either
not that I’m complaining, because if you expand subforums to a few people, soon everyone will want one, and the inflation caused by the number of subforums will diminish the coolness of having them in the first place
( wouldn’t use it anyways)
The subforums were an experiment that we put in the Ivies, which are the highest volume forums. We’ll look at adding a few more if there’s member interest.
Well I think that this qualifies as “member interest.”
Some of the Ivy boards don’t even use those subforums, yet many people on here think they would be a useful addition to other schools’ forums… so maybe instead of just assuming that the Ivies are the only boards that are frequented on this site, you should just glance at a couple other boards and assess them for the subforum addition as well.
Yes, I agree with Jesseo.
I know that the Georgetown and Berkeley forums could really use on of those subforums.
I think putting them in only the most populated boards helps prevent overflooding, and it helps questions like, What size sheets should I buy? only apply to people who care.
True, the Ivies are at the top of the post-count food chain, but there are many active forums like those mentioned earlier (Stanford, Duke, MIT, Gtown, and the like) whose conversations between members of the c/o 2009, prospective students, and general convos are getting muddled. I’ve visited several, and I really think many of the posters on the top-posting forums would stand to benefit from an '09 subforum. I agree with the poster who said 5,000 was a good number for a cutoff.
Just my $.02
We’ve added a few new 2009 forums - most of the ones mentioned above, and a few others. We’ll see how it goes.
Thanks, Roger. That was a very considerate thing to do.
Now off to go use my very own, new subforum!
