Ivy League Financial Aid

So, I'm applying Regular Decision to three ivy league schools. It says their applications are due January 1. But the thing is my friend's mom said that you have to turn in the application by December 1 to be considered for financial aid. Is this true or partly true? Or is it true for Early Decision only? Or is it just completely false?

Which Ivy League schools?

go to the financial aid section on each school’s website. There you will find the financial aid deadlines for students applying RD.

Keep in mind that you cannot file the FAFSA until 1/1/2014

Brown, Columbia, and Dartmouth

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

Run a Google search and visit each school’s website. Do not rely on your friend or strangers from the internet.

You had better check this out yourself not listin to some friend’ s mom or people on an internet board. Not meeting deadlines can really be to your disadvantage. You had better get rolling. It’s better to get these things in early.

Easy to find…google.

Name of college financial aid deadline

Dartmouth. February 1

Brown March 1

Columbia. march 3

You really need to go to EACH college website and see what they require for financial aid consideration. It varies, and there are additional items due at different times.

These schools give need based aid only, no merit aid. It would be wise to get your applications done ASAP after January 1. You would use excellent estimates if you do this. Then you would amend after the 2013 taxes are completed. There are some forms of federally funded aid that are limited for each school…Federal Work Study, and Perkins Loans, and SEOG if the school has that. These are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Your parents need to get their 2013 taxes completed ASAP. This is NOT the year to wait until April 15 to file.
