Ivy League or Duke?

I got likely letters from both Duke and Dartmouth, but I'm undecided as to which would be better for me to attend. Which would you pick?

If you search the threads on both the duke and the dartmouth boards, this is also a topic that arises each year as there is some overlap in acceptances and there are students that choose between both schools. On the Dartmouth board, dartmouth students will say dartmouth, on the duke board, duke students will say duke , so this really may not to get you any where.

Congrats on being admitted to both, of you are torn then it is really important to visit both, talk to students, sit in on classes , factor in the money (as duke does offer merit money where dartmouth only has need based FA), then determine which is best for you.

I agree. Academic/ prestige-wise these two are equals. I chose between these two and I chose Dartmouth for the LAC feel, the size, the more tightknit campus, sophomore summer, the study abroad, and the outdoors (not necessarily hiking, more like the existence of the river). Dartmouth, I believe, has a better (more tight-knit) social scene and I felt the attention on undergrads was much greater. Durham honestly isn't much better than lebanon, NH.

I am sure a Dukie would site the Cameron Crazies, the weather, the research, etc.

Both are amazing, I think you have to visit both on their "campus weekend" to decide.

all right, thanks for the advice both of you! :)
