I'm a HS junior, and started pole vault last year, and was pretty decent, My coach said if I jump this spring I'll do pretty well. I want to go to either Barnard (so Columbia athletics) or Cornell, and it doesn't look like they have may girl pole vaulters, so I might have a chance-what is a height that you can start talking to colleges(Ivy League) at?

Coaches will have some interest if you can go 11’ - 11’6" with some consistency. 12’+ and you’ll be sought after by most Ivies that need a vaulter. Of course grades and test scores need to be there, too.

Ok, thanks. So 12+ to be a walk-on?

And I’m not even sure if I’m going to do pole vault this year(I had surgery a few months ago), I’m just thinking if I have a chance at maybe walking on to the team, it might boost my chances at Barnard.

Well 12+ would put you in the range of being recruited which is a huge boost. Whether Barnard / Columbia or Cornell is looking for a vaulter is another matter.
