I did really well on the PSAT in sophomore year, but I don't think that counts :(
SAT: 2000 (but I'm hoping to pull it up)
SATII: Math 2=760 (retake?)
Chemistry=780
US=710 (It may seem low for all you smarties, but I'm fine with it)

Extracirriculars: NHS, Volleyball (JVcaptain), Track and Field, Key Club (event organizer), Outdoor Education Counsellor, Japanese Tutor, Math Tutor, Volleyball Junior Assistant Coach, Chem Honors and AP Chem Awards

I'm pretty into the sciences (ANIMALS!) hehe. And my sister goes to Cornell (ED), so I'm hoping to live up to the expectation.

I'm wondering what my chances are at places like Upenn, or Washington (SL).

Any other suggestions? I don't want to be the dumb kid (or the smart kid, for that matter), but I want to be challenged. I want a bigger school, and one with a name would be nice :) I really want to travel abroad to Australia. Um, I would like one in the city, with many things to do. And a good party scene ;) but nothing way to crazy. I would also want a friendly atmosphere (I'm from Hawaii) where people are willing to help you if you need it.

Okay, this is really long. Thanks for taking the time :) Now I've got a Math and English Test Tomorrow!!

oops I guess this is the wrong thread. I'm not sure how to delete this, but I poasted this in the "what are my chances" thread, which seems very appropriate. haha. Anyways, any input there would be super appreciated. thanks :)

Well I think you probably have a shot at Cornell, Dartmouth, but the 2 APs (Fresh-Junior) are a little worrisome. I like the all APs senior year, and Washington doesn't sound like a stretch. UPenn is going to be tough though, but might as well try. Everything about you, from the athletics, your smarts and (at least what I can tell from your writing) your personality screams UNC. Great school-you should check it out, I passed up some Ivies for it.

Anyone who likes animals should get accepted everywhere.

You would have a shot Cornell ED CALS Animal Science.

Shoes of college Dartmouth has higher SAT avgs then every Ivy outside HYP and a lower acceptance rate then Brown and Penn. Not sure how its more accessible than Brown, Penn. or Columbia.

Apply Early Decision for a shot at Penn CAS.

From what you say, WUSTL would be a perfect fit for you. Try taking the ACT as well.

Take the ACT or raise the SAT by 100 point, then go gamble.

mmm, yeah, ACT sounds like a plan. But I didn't sign up for it because my college counsellor said I didn't have to take it (after seeing my SAT score). But, I've got some SAT books so hopefully my score will improve when I take it in June.

I know this is a major reach, but what about Stanford? There are about 7-10 who are going there from my school in this years senior class, but some are for athletics.

Also, I was wondering how the athletic facilities are at the top colleges (ivies and others)? I'm not planning on playing sports (maybe intramural volleyball), but if I wanted to just go and work out (cardio and weights) would it be easy for me to do that? Are there any top schools with especially great or bad facilities?

Oh, and food. Besides Cornell, where else has a good variety of (healthy)food?

Urban Ivies (primarily Columbia, Penn, Harvard) would have access to a wide variety of food sources beyond dining halls.

You certainly have a shot at the most selective schools. You sound like an interesting person which is going to help a lot. Love that glass blowing!

It is easy to pick those top schools, though, and oh, sooo much fun. Dartmouth vs Brown, and what about Williams. Before you start on that pleasurable activity that everyone is going to want to help you with, look for some godd solid schools that you like, that fit your wants and where you are sure to get accepted. Make sure you have that squared away. Great if its an EA or rolling admissions school. If it's a financial safety too, even better. Get one that is a real possibility. Then have fun, picking which top schools should go on your list.
