Ivy League schools accepting GED's?

I know this is going to sound completely pathetic, but I was wondering if colleges like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. accepted GED's. I don't know why but just like college is not for some people, high school is not for me. I don't like to "toot my own horn" but I'm extremely intelligent and I know I can handle anything. Any standarized test grades I receive are never below amazing. The workload itself, as well as the accelerated classes were never my problem. I was wondering if my SAT l and SAT ll grades as well as my extra curricular activities could be the big factor for my admissions in competitive to most competitive colleges. Any advice would be appreciated.

Many students leave high school early for selective schools. Threre is another thread on CC discussing this.

You most likely are still going to need recommendation letters from teachers/gc and the like. Your best bet would be to contact the admissions office directly because requirements vary from school to school.

an old thread about the topic:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=8486&highlight=schools+accept%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=8486&highlight=schools+accept</a></p>

Okay thanks..that clears up alot. I just don't understand why someone like me can't go to high school. I know I can do phenomonal. I guess I'm just that type of person. Now I remember reading somewhere that Harvard doesn't require you to be a high school graduate. I just don't see how I can prove myself to a school like that. My friends all think I don't go to school because I'm lazy but that's not even the case. Maybe I'll see what my options are. If your not a high school graduate, then what age do you have to be to get admitted into a college? I don't want to sit around for 2 years lol..but if this really does work out, I hope it's a slap in the face for anyone who put me down because of what I did.. thanks for all your help guys..anymore advice will still be greatly appreciated!

If high school's so easy and SATs are such a breeze, why don't you just stick with it?

DVaris223 you mention age....which is NOT a criteria for admission to college. What you need to do is apply. I have a friend who did NO high school and finished undergrad in a short time, he began at age 13. He is now working on his PhD at Stanford.

Replying to negro's post: I'm not challenged and even though that sounds as if it's an even better reason to stay in high school it's not. I feel like I am forced to go and I don't like that. College is a choice and privilege that I feel I'm ready to make now.

OP's title post had me wondering what is he talking about. First he is so intelligent that high school is not for him, then he's talking about workloads and accelerated programs and his extracurriculars. He did not seem to be talking about getting GED. OP has exactly 3 posts, and they are all in this thread. Sounds like a troll to me.

I shouldn't have put GED in the title. I'm still thinking about what to do regarding a GED or just not getting my diploma.

Every school we called accepted kids applying early without GED. The reason to obtain one is if one leaves college before 4 years. Or, you culd need one for summer job. Sometimes HS are able to allow dual enrollment, or possibly completing a required course in college, and then sending it back to hs. My S took Eng IV on line to achieve a HS degree.

Most important is to explore options with your GC

Thanks bookworm..another question is do I have to decide whether or not to drop out/ get GED in order to apply? Staying in school until I get a response from colleges would be best, but it may not work that way. I tried finding information on it in college books and even browsed the internet but I found nothing on it. Also, regarding my GC..she doesn't do anything for me. That's another reason I hate my high school..I go for "guidance" and her idea of guidance is guiding me out the door. I just want to get on with my life because of the problems I had and am having in high school. If you want the full story PM me..I would like to share it because, not that it's a special situation, but I just need help with it..Thanks
